At one point i loved them both, however I found that Neighbours repeats H&A's storylines a few months later. So i stopped watching it. That was when Karl and Susan spilt up and and he started to date Izzy (I think thats her name. Max's sister) and I haven't watched it since.

i watch both neighbours and home and away but if i had to pick just one to watch, it would have to be home and away, it is an awesome show,

i think story lines in home and away are more real life then neighbours storyline.

OK in neighbours you've got Paul Robinson who's daughter Elle Robinson has just got him to sigh a contact which gives her all his money and anything he owns.

(would that happen in real life i don't think so)

100%

Have you never heard of people been conned out of their money :rolleyes:

anyway my vote is that their both as good as each other

I only watch Home & Away. :)

I've seen Neighbours once or twice a long time ago because my grandmother used to watch it. Now she has stopped watching it, she's watching an American soap instead but I don't know which one and I don't like it either.

For me, Home and Away wins over Neighbours in all areas.

The characters and their casting is hugely important. H&A in general seem to create by far the better characters. N. currently have Paul, Frazer and Rosie who are great (and recently Steve Bastoni from Police Rescue! Utterly fab to see him again.), the best things about it, but they've had a string of dreadful characters who are utterly boring to watch. I don't really want to name what could be people's favourites, but that includes Adam. Thankfully Lynn Scully finally left. Then, in a worst nightmare scenario, they go and bring back Valda who was awful first time round, and still just makes you want to reach for the off button.

H&A's long term characters, Sally, Colleen, Alf, Morag (Irene I'm not quite as keen on, but that's probably just me), seem to be streets ahead of Karl, Susan, Harold and Lou in terms of the writing for them. The youngest ones - Matilda, Annie, Geoff are far better than Rachel, Zeke, Bridget. Declan might beat Drew but then you have Ned (why?), or the bland Oliver, vs Ric which isn't even a contest. Pepper, Elle, Toadie and Janae are likeable, but don't really get great storylines. Though I think H&A could make better use of the excellent Rachel. And as for Leah, I can't imagine why Ada wants to stay, or indeed why they want her to stay, since the highlight of her last three years has been wearing a sexy outfit for about ten seconds for Dan's return recently. I'm sure she could be a reasonable character if given *anything* to do, still, at least Tony has gone from a nobody to very much a somebody this year. Dan too has unfortunately been very underused. Jazz was a bit of a tacky character, but at least she was different. (Did H&A steal her away from N.?! - one good thing to happen to N. and they lost her to H&A?!) And H&A has some long term background roles such as Lara, other policemen, doctors, nurses and is all the better for it - they seem to be completely absent in N. (lawyer Tim excepted, or is he sticking around?).

Secondly, locations. H&A is set near a beautiful beach. Obviously not all the scenes are there, but it's quite an advantage! Further to that, H&A seem to do far more location filming at many different places, which just adds so much to the show, even when it's merely inside various random houses. N. is either all indoors, or outside houses on a street, only very rarely do they visit a clifftop, or London.

Plus I prefer the H&A storylines, somehow they're just much more entertaining. Paul alone is the centre of most of the interesting stories on N. Another thing H&A is superior at is having people come and go, it's such a treat when someone like Jonah returns (as long as you like them!) after a couple of years away. Or Morag, Sophie, Carly, Steven, Frank, Don etc. Or Peter (here's hoping!)...
