bubblepop Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 I like the past teens much more then the teens portrayed now, past teens include, Dani, Will, Haley, Jade, Nick, Kirsty , Seb ,Noah, Tasha, Robbie i like the teens from 2000-2004. I think I like the storylines More better then I dont like the teen characters now to be honest much I just think because most of the teens actors are actually adults realistically, and much older then there characters in real life whereas back few years ago the actors who were playing the teens were Very young in real life as well I.e when Nick, Jade, Kirsty started H&A they were 14-16 in real life so i guess it appeals to you a bit more and makes it seem more reliastic. The only real teen actors, are Matilda which i think is currently the best teen, and probally Belle for 2007.
rockagirl Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 I only watch the show cuz of the teens so i dont have any problem with them Well i have a problem with Lily but nobody else. I think all the other teens can act and they look stunning. All but Lily of course I dont have a problem with the older characters i just like the younger ones better!
alexx Posted April 14, 2007 Report Posted April 14, 2007 I definitely prefer the teens we have currently to Seb, Jade, Kirsty…etc I never liked any of there storylines, and the characters weren’t my type of character. I don’t have a problem with the teens as long as they are written consistently, and with depth. Which for the most I think they have been pretty much this year, so I don’t have a problem with that. However, I do think they get too much screen time and leave the adults on the backburner (the writers do anyway), I don’t like Lucas – his storylines are crap and the character is annoying – episodes surrounding his character and storylines I don’t like, and that’s when it feels too ‘teeny-bopper’. But I do hate the makeup-breakup trend, becuase it makes me care less for them as characters. I prefer that the teens are played by older actors; they have been there and can get the storyline right without being OTT - example - Kirsty.
claire_louise Posted April 15, 2007 Report Posted April 15, 2007 I agree that it's often better if the actors are slightly older than the characters. I think casting a 23 year old as a 17 year old (ie. Cassie) is a bit OTT, but saying that Sharni does a great job. I'd rather have someone who's just a couple of years older, as they generally have more experience and can take on better storylines. Sometimes when Jade, Kirsty etc were around the show seemed a bit too childish.
WillowsTara Posted April 16, 2007 Report Posted April 16, 2007 Well I like the teens, but the adults gotta have thier time too, true Peter/Amanda have had thier storyline so they got lucky. And Dan had a storyline not too far not to mention Sally and Martha sure have had thier storylines. But what about Leah, Colleen, Irene, Alf, Tony, and some others who haven't had that much of a good storyline lately
liv3893 Posted April 17, 2007 Report Posted April 17, 2007 I think Cassie is a little too dramatic sometimes. Like lots of other people have said, I do prefer the older teens like Gypsy, Will, Hayley, Sam, Noah, Dani and then the next generation of them like Kirsty, Nick, Jade and Seb.
emmasi Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 The Australian episode tonight was a bit overwhelming. Seven teens, none of them Lucas, and two I don't know whether I like or not. All in the same place at the same time. It's annoying me that I can't work out their relationships anymore, but that is not the fault of the characters, that's the fault of the writers. The characters by themselves are still great, but when they're all together like that it's so hard to keep track of who's friends with who. It's the same with all the characters though. One minute someone's getting thrown out of the Diner in a huff, the next they're sitting happily in the corner, sipping on a coffee and minding their own business... It pains me to use the teens as a scapegoat on this occasion for something that's gone wrong right across the board.

ste Posted April 18, 2007 Report Posted April 18, 2007 The latest Australian episode (I won't go into details because of spoilers) immediately made me think of this thread. It was great having all the teen gang together. Very mid-90s H&A. Everyone more or less gets along, but there are strong friendships and weak friendships. I'd hate if they were all best mates, and equally I'd hate if one or two of them were mortal enemies of the rest. Belle and Drew will always be sort of outsiders, but they are more or less part of the gang. But they know where they stand and they try to be ok with that. I didn't even notice Lucas was missing until I started writing this. Wow. His absense really hasn't left any sort of gap!! Token teen doing nothing on-screen versus token teen doing nothing offscreen. Tough choice. The annoying thing about Lucas is there are elements to his character such as his intelligence and his (when the writers remember it) shyness and his easily manipulatable personality that could make him interesting, but 99% of the time all he does is skulk around in his boardies and flip flops not contributing very much at all. But I did think it was great having ALL the teens together for an episode. I'm not saying I'd like it all the time (I think I'd hate it), but for this one time it was good. If anything, it confirmed relationships between some of them that may have been, to some viewers, a little hazy. It was also like a "welcome to the gang" episode for, well, one of them
