Newcomers/guests... give them a chance!

The problem i see is that its hard to get attached to a guest character as you never know how long there gonna stay and most guest characters are in actual fact bad news to start with.

Just thought i'd dig this thread up!

It would be very interesting if, even just for a trial period, the writers stopped bringing in these guest characters and tried focussing soley on the main characters, giving them all something to do and seeing what they get up to.

An interesting thought there. At the moment (UK pace anyway), there aren't that many guest characters. The only ones I can think of are Sam, Rory, Henk and Don (but he doesn't really count as a guest IMO ).

At some points this year there were six or seven guests that had various storylines at one stage or another. We had Kelli, Jules, Hugh, Kit, James, Lily, etc. all at the same time. Even though most of them were interesting characters, I don't approve of the guesties getting all of the storylines! I know they keep things fresh but a little break to allow the main characters some screentime *cough* Dan, Leah, Alf, Irene and Colleen* is always nice. I'm quite happy with the amount of guesties at the moment, so i'm just having a rant about what was happening earlier in the year .

On one hand i don't like to many guest characters because they take away the limelight from regular characters that don't have a decent storyline as it is. On the other hand they can bring a bit of well needed excitement sometimes if things are rattling along to nicely.
