The episode when it's set entirely in Travis's house back then (now Leah & Dan's) It had Travis, Rebecca, Selina, Jesse, Chloe and Shannon & maybe Lachie? and it was all about relationships but it was different because the whole episode was filmed just in that house during a storm.

I can vaguely remember an episode from 1998 or 1999, that was set on the beach during a Surf Carnival or something like that… I seem to remember Teigan and Joey playing a bigish part, but I have completely forgotten the format or what it was all about, but it was definitely strange, I think it started off in the future, kept on flashing back to the past (which was the present) and then the real past… Anyone? I’ve thought about this loads of times…if anyone can remember that’d be great to finally know! I remember at the time being really confused at first, before I started to realise...

The episode Flynn died. The whole episode took place in the Fletcher house and they had flashes of the time appearing on the screen... Not sure if that would count.

That one where Sally, Flynn, Leah and Jesse were the only main characters. That was pretty cool.

The only other ones I can think of are the Zoe and Barry reveals, and Noah's funeral - seeing as how he was AT it... For some reason I'm thinking that one during "Who Shot Josh West?" where Robbie and Tasha both confessed (if that was the one episode...)... that was kind of different...

This isn't the whole episode, but when Barry told Kim the truth about his mother, I think that scene took up a whole act by itself, and it was nearly all a monologue without flashbacks or anything. I remember thinking "Hm, that's pretty impressive."

I've probably missed the point of this thread but oh well, it's cheered me up on a very depressing day :P

What about Alf's dream episode? :P

Yeah Noah's funeral, I think the reason why he was there was so people coun't see that he was dead at first etc.

One thing I've always wondered is, if following a severely upsetting storyline we had like an instrumental episode.

Back in 94 or 95 when they did the domestic abuse story with Donna and Andrew a good chunk of the episode was just instrumental. Cant remember much as I was only about 12 at the time.

Bobby coming out of the fridge stands out for me. The two episodes involving Sarah's siege too as it focused just on that story for the two episodes and it was a genuinely frightening story.

This isn't one episode, more like a few scenes in a few episodes, but after Robert had kidnapped Gypsy. It was the season finale and the show had skipped on six weeks when it returned and we saw what happened through flashbacks, it was really well done.

Episode 4122 (Flynn's funeral) was different - it has a 'Desperate Housewives' style to it with Flynn narrating the whole thing, reflecting on his own life.

Flynn’s funeral episode reminded me of American Beauty.

It also mirrored Michael's funeral, though that time it was narrated by Pippa's 'inner-voice'. I love Michael's funeral episode, its one of my favourites!

I recenttly transcibed Hayley's 18th which was something rather bizarre.

It was also an episode when the episode reaches it's furthest point in time ten minutes in.

I remember they made a big deal of that at the time - being different, innovative blah blah. I liked the ep. though.

I thought the episode where Hayley says goodbye to Noah's ghost for the last time was quite unique. It had a theme running through it and linked two storylines: Kirsty studying Hamlet and Hayley considering suicide. I remember they had a shot of Hayley considering ending her life or some such and then cut to Kirsty reading out loud her essay q. starting with To Be or Not to Be? I really liked it.

I'd say the original cyclone episode because even though there was a bit of drama with Justine being stuck out at sea and Irene going missing, in general it was just about all the characters sitting in the school talking about their lives and problems.

I really love when shows (not just H&A) do standalone episodes that focus in on one person or storyline and really explore it deeply for half an hour. I'd love it if H&A did it once or twice a year, focussing in on one character like Irene, Leah, Morag, Colleen or Alf. I loved the old two-hander episodes they used to do on EastEnders when it was just two characters sitting talking for half an hour. They still do them sometimes but they are nowhere near as good.
