MarcHall0606 Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 You think there is ANY chance of them doing Home and Away boxsets? They could have 1988 boxsets (if that's when it started) with ALL the episodes from that year. Then 1989, then 1990 and so on. Doubt they will do this but it'd be great if they did. I'd buy them lol. :l
-Tess- Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 No, I don't think that will ever happen. Probably a few more specials, like the romances and weddings (eg. births, deaths, villans maybe), but not box sets. Way too many for that.
Ryan Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 The price would just run away, I mean, it would be the equivalent to 10 seasons of The Simpsons if you wanted extras and with them retailing at £35, you're looking at £350 a season and therefore £7000 for the complete collection.
Perry Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 They could always do a Best Of 1988 maybe having a few episodes of that year or just some of the best scenes and then continue with Best of 1989, 1990 and so on... Or maybe Next year they will release a 20th Anniversary DVD with some of the best scenes over the 20 years its been on.
Dan F Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 There MAY be a small chance of a boxset being released in the UK.... but I don't want to jinx things too much as they are only in the very early stages of development. But at least it shows that some people are actually thinking about it
Ryan Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 Something similiar to what Neighbours brought out four years ago?
TickTock Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 The producers have already said season boxsets won't happen, because they would require contracts to be signed by the many many actors who've appeared in the show over the years and then there is also the expensive music licensing costs. It wouldn't be worth putting the series on DVD in season-by-season format for all the work that would go into it. The costs of putting even one season together would ultimately make the boxset extremely expensive when it finally hit stores.
pritnep Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 And the offical word: Leanne: About 4 or 5 years ago i was in South Australia in a town called Whyalla, and on their local tv station they had early episodes of Home and Away on in the afternoon. How is this so,when in the "you asked" it is said that due to contracts with actors from the early days channel 7 is unable to repeat or make DVD sets of the early days? From time to time, actors request that contracts be altered so that the time in which we are allowed to show repeats is reduced. When Home and Away started 20 years ago, we were allowed to show repeats for 10 years. So, the repeat that you saw in Whyalla 4 or 5 years ago may have been allowed at that time. We probably could not broadcast those same episodes now, since another 4-5 years has passed. Just for your interest, episodes that we are producing now can only be shown for 6 years. Des: Will seven bring back the early year repeats of home and away? Sadly we are unable to repeat early episodes or make DVD sets, due to contracts with the actors in the early days. But I think a 20th Anniversary DVD isn't a far stretch of the imagination.
~Lynd~ Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 I seriosly think that if tthey wanted to they could get around it,other shows do.
Tashas angel Posted March 18, 2007 Report Posted March 18, 2007 That would be great! if they did i dout it will happen they only put special events on dvd.
