Guevara01 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I find 'tosser' much less cut-worthy. Although i don't think either of them are bad xxx
Si-Co Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I was about to post that I agree that 'tosser' isn't as bad a word as 'pissed', but I'm not sure really.. I wouldn't say 'pissed' in front of my parents, but I may say 'tosser' in context in front of them. Hmm.. I guess I've always thought of '****' as a swear-word, but 'tosser' just as a not-very-polite word. Five seem to have some objection to the word 'moron' as well. To me, it's just like saying 'idiot', 'dafty', 'jerk', etc, although I seem to remember us discussing this before and people have said it has stronger connotations.
Guevara01 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I can see how 'moron' could be seen as not PC, but again i think it depends on the context. I agree with you about the 'tosser' thing though, i think i'd get away with saying that in front of my parents, but not 'pissed' xx
.Amy. Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I heard that but did anyone else hear some one say Bit**?
-Laura- Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I would definitely say p****d is worse than tosser and my mum would frown at me if i said the first but wouldnt as much if i said the second. And on the subject of moron it means carrots in the welsh language so it always cracks me up when people say it in that context! Hehe!
starrychris Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 You UK people must be so conservative if you are shocked at hearing someone say something so minor like that.
Shaun. Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 You UK people must be so conservative if you are shocked at hearing someone say something so minor like that. I haven't read the whole topic but I think people are talking about the fact that 'swearing' isn't usually on the TV before 9pm. Which is stupid because it's the parents choice whether their child watches a show or not. In Eastenders and other soaps they have started adding words such as 'bastard' and Stacey said to Max the other day something about a 'quick shag.' I'm not bothered about it to be honest it's not like I'm going to be shocked at the word pissed when I hear swearing and swear myself every single day.
Ross Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 Personally, I don't feel there is anything wrong with words like 'pissed' or 'tosser' being used. I can never understand why people out there are so hung up on it, especially those who actually make complaints to television companies. As far as I'm concerned, as long as the two big no-nos aren't used (which they obviously wouldn't be anyway in this show) I have no problem with anything else.
vale4eva Posted March 17, 2007 Report Posted March 17, 2007 I still think tossers worse! If you call someone a 'tosser' then thats worse than saying 'pissed' or '**** off' to someone, in my view anyway. I dont think there that bad though.
