Mistified Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Totally random line but it was wicked. since it's been on Five, there has been a lot less editing which is great, hopefully we won't miss any of the good bits now. xxx I don't think RTE have ever edited here for us Irish viewers, but then I suppose how would we know? It's shown at lunchtime here, and repeated at 6:30pm so both well prior to the watershed.
ste Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 ITV would have edited it. Five seem to have stopped butchering episodes ! When have they ever butchered episodes? They have made the smallest possible number of cuts to the most minute number of episodes. No more than any channel makes to any of it's imported shows. And they have all (in my opinion) been not only completely justified, but also so small they are hardly worth remembering. The only exception to this would be the "bulbs" storyline with Duncan. And editing just one short storyline out of all that's happened in the last 7 years isn't bad. ITV would definately have edited it. But they would have edited the word "cups" incase it's offensive to mugs. (Random I know but there's a cup infront of me).
Si-Co Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 LOL.. I was shocked too! You just don't expect to hear that before the watershed. It's not the first time the P word has been used - Robbie told Rhys(?) that he 'pissed his pants' a couple of years ago. Obviously Five don't consider it an offensive word (neither do I, but you know what I mean..) In defence of ITV, they did once allow Sophie to mention how her schoolfriends would 'cack themselves laughing' at something or other about 15 years go. Also, back in the very early days, Sam Barlow used the word 'friggin' and that wasn't censored. My parents weren't impressed though!
carrie_ann Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I nearly chocked on my tea when i heard as i thought i was hearing things . i asked my sister did Jack say the P word she said yeah i thought to my said nah it cant be right so i watch the repeat to day at 12 i had subtitles on just incase i thought i was hearing things Jack actually said the P word i was so shocked as it was pre watershead
vale4eva Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Am i the only one that wasnt so shocked! Mainly i just thought it made it more realistic with him saying that (and a bit funny hehe). I guess i can understand because it was way before the watershed but im glad they included it. Five seem to cut alot of things out (that arent even necessary to cut out, in my opinion anyway). Theyve stopped lately though, thankgod!
Zetti Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I wasnt shocked! No idea why though, it seemed to be like his character considering the state he is in with being in a wheelchair
Guevara01 Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 I remember on Alf's birthday episode, Five edited out Ric calling Duncan a prat or something, but they kept in Morag turning to him and going "RIC!!". It was hilarious because if you didn't know it had been edited, it looked like she was just yelling at him for no reason. That's why i was surprised when Jack said 'pissed' xxx
Dan F Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 It was 'tosser' - I was surprised they cut that
-Laura- Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 Hehe! It shocked me too! I was just sat there happily eating my tea and was like 'what did he just say?!' I mean not that its that an offensive word i just didnt expect to hear it at that time of the night while eating my tea! lol
vale4eva Posted March 16, 2007 Report Posted March 16, 2007 It was 'tosser' - I was surprised they cut that You see i find 'Tosser' worse than 'pissed', so im not suprised they cut that out and let Jack say pissed
