BRAD AND SALLY'S ROOM

Brad and Sally are lying next to each other.

BRAD:

I'm worried about her, Sal.

SALLY:

Don't be. I saw the look Cassie gave her - it means she'll look after her.

BRAD:

I just wish Amy could have told me. I'm a stranger to my own child. I missed so much. Her first word. Her first birthday. Her first smile.

SALLY:

The important thing is that she's here now. You have the chance to be a part of her life.

She snuggles up to him and he holds her closer, staring up at the roof.

DOWNSTAIRS.

The movie is finished, but Kayla, Ric, Rocco and Cassie are still sitting there talking.

KAYLA:

So what's he like?

RIC:

Brad? He's nice.

KAYLA:

And?

RIC:

He's a good guy, he cares about Sal, he's always reliable.

KAYLA:

Okay.

CASSIE:

Give it time, I'm sure the two of you will get along well soon.

KAYLA:

Yeah, we'll see about that.

RIC:

Hey, I have an idea...

CASSIE:

Mistake - Ric never has good ideas.

RIC:

Why don't we give Luc, Mattie, Belle and Drew a call then we meet up at Noah's. Then you can meet them, Kayla.

CASSIE:

Shouldn't we ask Sally and Brad?

KAYLA:

I wouldn't bother them now... and I think he's going to say no to anything I ask him now. Let's just go, what's the worst that could happen?

CASSIE:

Okay... come on, let's get something to wear!

Kayla and Cassie go up.

RIC:

So what do you think about Kayla? She's cute.

ROCCO:

I wouldn't go there. Mr Armstrong hates me already so I'm not even starting about his daughter.

RIC:

Okay...

ROCCO;

Besides, I've got my eye on someone already.

RIC:

And that someone is named Cassie.

ROCCO:

Is it that obvious?

RIC:

Yeah.

They both laugh.

UPSTAIRS IN THE ROOM.

CASSIE:

So what are you going to wear?

KAYLA:

I'm not really good with clothes...

She searches her bag and holds up a black long sleeved top and mini-skirt.

I'll just wear this.

CASSIE:

I love that skirt!

KAYLA:

Thanks.

CASSIE:

Why don't you wear a sleeveless top with it though?

KAYLA:

No, I like this one.

CASSIE:

Okay... I'm quickly going to get my clothes then. Meet you downstairs?

KAYLA:

Sure.

Cassie leaves, Kayla sits down on the bed.

DOWNSTAIRS

Ric and Rocco are sitting on the couch. Kayla comes down.

RIC:

Wow. You look hot.

KAYLA:

Thanks. Cassie not here yet?

RIC:

What are you kidding me? She takes an hour to dress.

CASSIE:

I do not!

She comes down from the stairs and they leave.

AT NOAH'S.

Ric, Cassie, Rocco and Kayla enter. Matilda, Belle, Lucas and Drew are already there.

RIC:

Hey guys. This is Mr Armstrong's daughter Kayla. Kayla this is Mattie, Belle, Lucas and Drew.

They all smile and greet each other.

Ric sits down next to Matilda.

BELLE:

Why sit here, let's hit the dance floor!

Everyone leaves the table except for Kayla and Lucas.

LUCAS:

Aren't you going?

KAYLA:

I don't dance.

LUCAS:

Mind if I keep you company?

KAYLA:

Not at all.

LUCAS:

Let's get something to drink though.

KAYLA:

Sure!

They walk to the bar and each order an orange juice.

LUCAS:

So listen... I'm sorry about your mum.

KAYLA:

You know, you're the first person mentioning that.

LUCAS:

Really?

KAYLA:

Yeah.

LUCAS:

I guess no one knows what to say.

KAYLA:

And you do?

LUCAS:

No. But my mum died when I was little so I know what it's like to be without a mother.

KAYLA:

It's not like I really knew what it was like with one either.

LUCAS;

What do you mean?

KAYLA:

Let's just say she wasn't going to win any mum of the year awards.

LUCAS:

I'm sorry.

KAYLA:

Don't be. Hey, you want to go for a walk or something? I could do with the fresh air.

LUCAS:

Yeah, okay.

They leave Noah's. The other teens continue dancing.

Yay an update, Lucas and Kayla make such a sweet couple, Love this story, lol for a minute I thought Rocco was going to say something Kayla asked what Brad was like, that would of went done well , update soon please.

Lucas and Kayla are sitting next to each other.

It's great having a dad. My dad and I talk about everything.

I wish I had that growing up. Someone to talk to.

It's too late. I don't know how to begin a relationship with him. Or if I even want to.

IN THE DINER

Belle, Mattie, Cassie, Ric, Rocco and Drew walk to the table.

BELLE:

Hey, where did Luc and the new girl go?

RIC:

No idea. Should we go and look for them?

BELLE:

Yeah, otherwise they are just going to get us into trouble!

ON THE BEACH

Belle and Drew are looking for Kayla and Lucas on the beach.

BELLE:

Lucas! Hello?

LUCAS:

Hey!

Belle and Drew see Lucas and Kayla and run up to them.

BELLE:

Next time you want to run off in the dark, tell us!

KAYLA:

What are you, my mother?

BELLE:

No, but...

KAYLA:

But what? You're not responsible for me so don't act like you are!

BELLE:

At least I am responsible - I don't want us to get caught!

KAYLA:

You're not responsible, you're scared.

BELLE:

I am not scared!

KAYLA:

You're scared and you're boring me so just leave us alone!

Kayla jumps up and runs off.

BELLE:

What's her problem?

LUCAS:

You wouldn't understand.

He runs off after Kayla.

DREW:

Okay, party's over. Come on, we have to go home.

Belle and Drew leave.

FLETCHER HOME.

Lucas catches up with Kayla just before she reaches the front door.

LUCAS:

Hey! What was that about?

KAYLA:

I can't stand people telling me what to do.

LUCAS;

That's not exactly what she did.

KAYLA:

Yes it is! I don't need her playing mother over me! I'm going to sleep.

She walks in leaving Lucas on the porch.

LUCAS:

That is one weird girl.

He shakes his head and walks home.
