Cassie, Luc, Rocco and Jane are still watching the movie. Kayla comes in with Pippa on her hip.

KAYLA:

Hey guys.

CASSIE:

Hi. Have a nice day?

KAYLA:

Yeah, thanks.

Cassie turns off the TV as the movie ends. Kayla sits down on the couch with Pippa on her lap. Brad and Sal come in.

BRAD:

Hey guys!

KAYLA:

Hi dad! Hey Sal.

SALLY:

You all had a good day I hope?

KAYLA:

Yeah.

PIPPA:

We built a BIG castle and I smashed it!

Brad tosses her into the air and she giggles.

BRAD:

Looks at Kayla

So the two of you built sandcastles?

PIPPA:

Nooo! The nice man helped us and we went in the sea! Like fishies!

BRAD:

Frowns

What nice man?

KAYLA:

Just a guy we met at the beach.

BRAD:

A guy you met at the beach?

KAYLA:

Dad, we just built a stupid sandcastle together it's no big deal.

She walks up the stairs. Lucas frowns.

LUCAS:

I'd better head home.

CASSIE:

I'll walk with you.

LUCAS:

Thanks.

Jane checks her watch.

JANE:

I'd better go too. See ya.

She leaves before Rocco can offer to walk with her. Brad sighs and looks at Rocco.

BRAD:

Rocco... There's something I need to ask you.

ROCCO:

Okay... what's up?

BRAD:

Did you realise that Johnny is back in the Bay?

ROCCO;

You're kidding! I thought he was still in jail!

BRAD:

He got parole. He hasn't contacted you at all?

ROCCO:

No!

BRAD:

He's up to something. I don't know what, but I have a very bad feeling about this.

KAYLA'S ROOM.

Her phone rings.

KAYLA:

Yeah?

JOHNNY:

Hey!

KAYLA:

Oh! Hi, Johnny!

JOHNNY:

How are you?

KAYLA:

Fine.

JOHNNY:

Did you tell...

KAYLA:

I told you I wasn't going to tell anyone.

JOHNNY:

She puts the phone down and closes her eyes.

Cassie and Luc arrives.

LUCAS:

CASSIE:

They hug and Cassie leaves. Lucas watches her walking away.

IN THE HOSPITAL

Jane enters. She walks to room 5 where a frail woman is lying.

Jane sits down next to her.

JANE:

Hey mum.

ABBIE:

Hey sweetheart.

JANE:

How are you feeling?

ABBIE:

Much better. You make any friends yet?

JANE:

Yeah.

ABBIE:

That's good, love.

JANE:

Mum... do you think we'll stay this time?

ABBIE:

I hope so darling. But if they find us...

JANE:

Yeah, I know.

Kayla is walking on the beach slowly. She hears a soft cough behind her and turns.

KAYLA:

Johnny!

JOHNNY:

Hey gorgeous. Out walking alone?

KAYLA:

Yeah...

JOHNNY:

It could be dangerous. A lot of thugs wouldn't mind getting their hands on you.

KAYLA:

Do I look scared?

JOHNNY:

No. You don't.

She smiles at him and he takes her hand. Kayla looks at him in surprize.

KAYLA:

What are you doing?

JOHNNY:

Walking with you.

She looks down at their hands and he smiles at her.

JOHNNY:

I won't try anything, okay? I swear, I won't even kiss you.

KAYLA:

Well good, because I just came out of a relationship because I'm not ready yet. So... we can just be friends, okay?

JOHNNY:

Okay. A relationship with?

KAYLA:

Lucas Holden. Do you know him?

JOHNNY:

I've seen him around.

KAYLA:

He's a good guy.

JOHNNY:

Yeah, he is.

KAYLA:

He was teaching me to surf... but...

JOHNNY:

KAYLA:

JOHNNY:

Why do you always wear sleeves?

Kayla frowns and looks away. Before she can pull her hand out of Johnny's he pulls up her sleeve and stares at the red scars.

JOHNNY:

You cut yourself?

KAYLA:

No...

Johnny sits down and pulls her down with him. He lifts her palm to his mouth and softly kisses it.

JOHNNY:

Why?

KAYLA:

I don't do it anymore! I just did.

JOHNNY:

For no reason?

KAYLA:

Don't be daft.

She sighs.

At first it was because my mother and stepfather made me feel like an obligation. And not a very nice one. They used to fight all the time. He even hit me when he was drunk. Then he'd call me names... Then when my mom died. When I didn't get along with my dad. When I broke up with Lucas. It... it makes me feel like I'm in control.

JOHNNY:

But you're not.

KAYLA:

Don't tell anyone, please, Johnny.

JOHNNY:

Who am I going to tell? Nobody even knows we're friends.

Kayla sighs and Johnny pulls her closer.

JOHNNY:

Promise me you'll stop.

KAYLA:

I...

JOHNNY:

And that whenever you feel the need to do it, you'll talk to me.

KAYLA:

I promise.

JOHNNY:

I'm trying really hard not to kiss you right now.

Kayla looks up and gives him a soft peck on his lips.

KAYLA:

FLETCHER HOUSE

Cassie, Jane, Kayla and Rocco are sitting in the living room. Jane looks upset.

CASSIE:

Hey, Jane... can I ask you a favour?

JANE:

Sure, Cas.

CASSIE:

I bought this new top, but I have absolutely no idea what to wear it with... could you come take a look?

JANE:

Sure.

The girls walk upstairs. Rocco and Lucas both look at them.

LUCAS:

Man...

ROCCO:

What's that look on your face?

LUCAS:

I feel really awful.

ROCCO:

Why?

LUCAS:

Because Kayla and I just broke up a few weeks ago... and I'm already attracted to someone else. Does that make me a bad person?

ROCCO:

Cassie?

LUCAS;

Yeah... we just started hanging out and... I don't know, I just really like her. It's weird... she give sme butterflies all of the sudden.

ROCCO:

Laughs

I think that's cool.

LUCAS;

Yeah, but last I heard she was into you.

ROCCO:

Maybe that's changed. Give it a shot, Luc. You never know...

CASSIE'S ROOM.

Cassie sits down on the bed. Jane sits down next to her.

JANE:

Where's the top?

CASSIE:

I lied.

JANE:

Oh?

CASSIE:

I've noticed that you look a little upset today. I didn't want to ask anything in front of the boys. What's wrong Jane?

JANE:

Nothing.

CASSIE:

Right.

JANE:

Okay... it's my mum. I guess I should tell you everything. But you have to promise never to tell anyone, please Cas.

CASSIE:

Jane sighs.

JANE:

My mother is a cop. A few years ago, she busted a gang... they were selling drugs. And they didn't hesitate to kill either. The leaders of the gang were a man and a woman. They had a baby daughter. My mother took the baby and adopted her. But then they escaped. And now they are looking for their child. And for revenge.

CASSIE:

And the child?

JANE:

That baby... the child they are looking for... is me.
