Marieh Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Have it been much about self harming on Haa? (cutting, eating disorders etc etc). I just know about Matilda
ste Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 That's the only case I can think of. People always refer to her storyline as bulemia but I think it was self harm.
Caroline106 Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Didn't Jade have an eating disorder? Matilda had both self harm and an eating disorder... remember she was eating heaps and throwing up. =( I hope that answers your question. I don't know of anyone else... I just remember someone mentioning about Jade's eating disorder ages ago when Matilda was going through her self harming...
MarMar Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Definition: Self-injury has traditionally been known as self-harm (SH), self-inflicted violence (SIV), self-injurious behavior (SIB), and self-mutilation[3], although this last term has connotations that some people find worrisome, inaccurate, or offensive. A broader definition can also include the phenomenon of those who inflict harm on their bodies by means of disordered eating, or compulsive tattooing or body piercing or impulsive non-lethal injuring. - Wikipedia This looks interesting Sadly, I don't feel H&A present disordered eating as a way to self-harm. IMO, there are more information out there and more public attention in disordered eating (which is all fine and good), but less on self-harming (not just disordered eating). But, you can't expect H&A to 'fix' everything - just look how badly they did Chris' homosexuality-storyline.

That's true, it was during her balle (sp?) story-line and Sharni first had a role in h&a
MarMar Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Yes, which is a classic example of why people think ballet is the cause of the evilness that is disordered eating. I'm not saying it's not true, in some cases, but clearly not all. Hope nobody mind that I've added a wee bit to the headline of the thread.
ste Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Matilda had both self harm and an eating disorder... remember she was eating heaps and throwing up. To me that IS self harm, not bulemia. I could be wrong as I'm not expert, but in Matilda's case it was about hating herself and wanting to harm herself, not about trying to lose weight. They never once called it bulemia on the show nor did she or anyone else make references about her wanting to lose weight. She was just trying to harm herself. They did have a name for it on the show (eating then throwing up), but I forget what they called it now.
tessa305 Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Seb had an eating disorder at some point too. and i spose you could count alcoholism (kit, noah, irene)
MarMar Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Yeah, but if I remember correctly Seb was about weight? Of course, eating disorders are not really about weight. It's about control.
missiegold Posted March 13, 2007 Report Posted March 13, 2007 Sally had OCD (Obsessive compulsive disorder) at some point think it was after she was dumped at the alter.
