Reo Posted February 13, 2007 Report Posted February 13, 2007 Cant believe that Flynn and Sally the soulmates lost out to Jack and Martha who were over when it got tough. Im not sure how the voting works,I think it was something like your top couple got 5 points and 2nd got 4 points or something like that,But Jack and Martha seem to have only won by a few votes/people..Im wondering if those few people would vote the same way if it was done now.

Yay *Does happy dance* What you need to remember, is that these votes were done ages ago. If they were taken now, I'm not sure the results would be the same. It seems that J&M are not as popular as they were. We've had a lot of name changes recently!

Im not going to disagree with that, after everything thats happend with them i imagine that the results may have been differnt if youd taken the vote more recently, but i dont doubt for a second that they still have alot of loyal fans out there. I thought JM had potential, I did see a spark at first but they were very quickly ruined by bad acting, bad storylines, a lack of passion and a lack of any fundamental quality that actually made them appeal to me. Flynn and Sally on the other hand were genuine soulmates, it was subtle, not in your face and I doubt JM could have moved so many people to tears the way Sally and Flynn did when he died. That said. I disagree with a lot of the posts saying JM have no right to be in the poll. In my opinion they don't but thats my opinion, I'm sure plenty of people disagree with me and they have every right to. As emmasi explained much better than I ever could, the poll was about the favourite couple and at the time JM were the favourite and therefore won fair and square. ...Obviously I completely disagree and demand a re-count...

Well either way they won, and if Sally and Flynn had won id of been happy to. Both couples are just as equally deserving of 1st place but for different reasons. Yeah... stupid writers That's another thing I forgot to mention. This poll allowed you to vote for characters that you WANTED to be together, so that any couple - even ones that didn't technically exist (although what they got up to off screen...) - were entitled to a vote as long as the voter liked them. Maybe some day there'll be a poll to determine the most memorable, perfect, realistic, romantically explicit, and indestructable H&A couple of all time, but this wasn't it. The word was popular. For the record, I don't like that Martha and Jack are in the top two, because I don't like them. That's why I didn't vote for them. That's not to say they shouldn't be there though, just because I don't like them. Clearly a lot of people do, which, funnily enough, makes them popular... The J&M phenomenon has been a thorn in many people's sides, but there's no accounting for taste. I'm sure a whole lot of people aren't too happy that Robbie and Kim beat out Alf and Ailsa either, but what are you gonna do? That's the way the votes landed, and they didn't cast themselves. Well said. I like J&M no denying it & if I knew about bttb when this poll was I'd have voted for them without even blinking. However, if it was done now I wouldn't vote for them. I still like them in theory but I've gone off Martha completey & they just dont seem to as appealing anymore. Anyway, I like that they were in the top ten but not number one.
