This question might have already been said but there are no episode promos in the UK and maybe in other countries

Does anyone know why??? :(

It's 'cos Seven (the channel that show Home and Away in Australia) make their own. It's only the episodes that are exported, not the related advertising. It's up to each individual channel how much they wanna promote (which, unfortunately, for us is not very much!) the show.

I think that's how it works.

I think to be fair to Five there has been attempts to promote the show in the past. The problem, however, I believe is that Five have found that promoting the show has no effect on the viewers.

When five have done promotion for Home and Away though, it seems that they are mostly only played on five, so that gives them quite a limited audience compared to other channels. The majority of people who see these on five are probably already viewers of the show.

I did hear that a couple of Home and Away adverts have been played on ITV1 in the mornings though which is a step in the right direction I would think, as GMTV attracts quite a large audience in the mornings.

It's a bit ironic that ITV fought for as long as possible for the rights of Home and Away, and are now advertising for the show on five though!

^LOL, I know. I haven't seen any promoting yet, but I'm not sure if it would make a difference. I mean, most people probably know it's on. Anyone that finishes work at 5 would probably be home in time to see it was coming on. I suppose it would depnd on the storyline they were advertising though, if any.

That's the problem. The last time I remember them advertising a storyline was 2002, the ferry sinking.

Last year, despite huge storylines like the stalker and Flynn's cancer, the only promo Five did was the actors playing volleyball on the beach. I don't see how they can expect their promos to have an effect on the viewers when they don't actually promote storylines going on in the show. The infamously pointless (whilst clever) words-making-up-the-theme-song promo is another example.

In New Zealand we don't get promos either. It doesn't really bother me most of the time but when you get something interesting happen it would be nice to have a promo showing what is going to happen in the next episode.

The infamously pointless (whilst clever) words-making-up-the-theme-song promo is downloadable in the Scottish episodes thread!!

The 2002 season finale was promoted as well with adverts, one of them a montage of the last weeks episodes with a song that I know, but can't remember that name of and the other the last 20 seconds of the season, with Alf seeing Ailsa in the kitchen.

Sometimes I like promos but i've found that they often make things seem like they actually arent so u watch and then its not that good.

I also find that sometimes they give too much away.

I used to miss the home and away promos but I've got used to it
