Foxy Posted July 1, 2007 Report Posted July 1, 2007 A select number of people have BARB boxes attached to their televisions, and these people represent a cross ection of our society....not sure exactly how many people in the country have them, but basically they use these sample ratings and multiply them by....well, not sure exactly but they do something to them to gather the ratings. So basically, if you haven't got a BARB box, your viewing habits aren't counted anyway - therefore UK ratings pretty much mean nothing!
grinch-girl Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 thanks for the info Foxy... jeeeze i didnt think it would be like that ! is that the only rating site or are there other ones too? do the tv channels companies have any other way of knowing or do they rely on BARB?
Foxy Posted July 2, 2007 Report Posted July 2, 2007 I'm no expert on this (as you can probably tell by my jumbled explanation of it! ).....but I believe BARB is the only 'ratings counting' agency.

alexx Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 It's also got a strong afternoon following in the UK hasn't it? Another 500k or more?
Skylover Posted September 20, 2010 Report Posted September 20, 2010 It's also got a strong afternoon following in the UK hasn't it? Another 500k or more? I think it gets about another 2-300,000 for the 2.15pm showing. The ratings aren't brilliant, but Neighbours' hasn't been either recently. Still, they're both doing better than Hollyoaks percentage-wise.
