Or why Neighbours gets so many of its wooden actors from reality TV...

Yer and they become big stars!

Unlike h&a actors with failed careers and are only famous for marrying sports stars

coughs *Bec Cartwright* coughs. :D

But i really dont care about that, i watch H&A coz i enjoy watching it.

I think its stupid for the Casting Directors to do that if they did. The show counts on peoples abitliltys in acting not how well they can be photographed.

Besides when you look at the people who came from modeling agencies are they better then the people who did a Degree in Performing Arts??? No. People like Amy Mathews who did a degree , compare much better in acting skills than someone who came from a Modeling Agencey, say, Jodi Gordon. No affence to her, she has come along way since joining, but she hasn't had the expericences of acting before, or learing how. She is an alright actor but had to go about it the hard way because she hasn't had the previous trainging that a Performing arts student like Amy would have.

I agree, Amy was fantastic as soon as she hit the screens, whereas Jodi has clawed her way up from being unbearable to almost bearable.

I reckon it can just ruin the character though if the acting is terrible when they start, unless they redeem themselves within a couple of weeks or so, no matter how attractive they are. I still think Jodi Gordon isn’t that great; she over-acts to me at times and comes across like she doesn’t take the character seriously or something. They should all come from Acting Agency’s with either acting experience, or great acting ability IMO Having said that Amy (Kit) was terrible when she started, actually awful, but she soon became brilliant and very natural.

I agree with that. I hated Kim from the start and even though I can recognise that he's improved a lot I just can't warm to him. Same with Martha, although it doesn't help that they're ruining her character at the moment. I did, however, like Dani from the beginning and never thought she was a bad actress.

I don't think you can say that it's a pre-requisite for H&A actors to have done modelling. It's true for some of the younger ones but that's about it. If they got all their cast from modelling agencies no one would watch the show because it would be awful.

Yeah i agree acting is acting and modelling should stay seperate

lol but I love it when models come but are good at acting join the cast too :) most of the cast are pretty then other soaps opreas that why Home and away is one of my favourites

... You like it because the whole cast are pretty?

Well not exactly in the beginning a few years back the storylines interested me more and I became a fan of the show, and began liking in certain actors, but i think why i like the actors isnt because of their acting and storyline much i think it because of their prettiness i keep watching the show to admire their beauty. Like long time ago i watched it for the storylines, untill my fav actors left im not too interested

But now I watch Tasha, martha, and matilda, only on tv, because there pretty, and the storylines are not really interesting at the moment

I think that I became a fan of tammin not because of her acting but her prettiness attracted me and thats why im a fan of everything about her and i like to look at photos of her :)

That's kind of a weird reason to watch a show day-in-day-out imo isnt it?. Sure it’s nice that they are attractive and such, but I'd rather watch a show with good professional actors and them all be 'ugly' than a show full of attractive cardboard actors. (Which Im not saying H&A is). The show has always cast 'hot' people, but I think the majority have done acting school or have experience or what have you along with model work. I don’t think the actor who played Jack back in the 90's was either a model or actor - cant quite remember how he got the gig - anyone else know?

Most of the more adult actors in the show seem to be professionals (20-something and onwards), though I don’t know about Holly, I know she has done films and such, but I think she was predominantly more of a TV host wasn’t she?

Though if you take the teens back a few years ago and pre-2000 most of them came from acting schools, if not all!? Plus they were attractive too.

I just think if you are in charge of casting, in the whole of Australia there could be some more appropriate choices made - there are thousands of real awesome actors that are good at what they do and attractive - what I don’t get is when they cast someone that it seems like they haven’t even bothered to see how well they can act, its annoying when the actor cant pull it off because it ruins the scene and drags the show down IMO.
