She wasn't goth when she first arrived, though, was she?

I don't know how a goth character would work in Summer Bay. I guess they could come in and be a rebel. But, I think if they're gonna stay like that then they'd have to stay single because if they had a non-goth partner then they'd end up losing their gothicness and if they had a goth partner, I dunno, there's something too clichéd about having goth boy meet goth girl. And I don't know how much scope for development there'd be. I guess the only way it could work is if the goth character came in as the relation of someone else (although, I'm not sure if I could stand another long-lost relative coming out of the woodwork!) and then causing mayhem and then going again. Even then, I'm sure we'd find something to complain about! :P

I have a friend who's a gothic hippy. Dresses in black clothes and spikey collars, but loves nature. Listens to Maralyn Manson and Cat Stephens, hehe. Maybe someone like her would be good. Bleak outlook on life, but still inspired by the ocean :D

Bree wasn't a Goth to start with. I think she was trying to be like Sky. But then Sky dropped the act (which she was copying from a movie to be "different") and Bree decided she liked being gothic so she stayed that way. I think that's how it happened.

I think they'd be better off exploring the characters they have in H&A rather than adding a bunch of new ones. This thread is only a hypothetical, but I mean if they were to actually do it. I'd rather see them peel back some layers of existing characters. Point in case, what the hell does Lucas write in that journal!? I'm betting it's not a retelling of his daily routine.

This whole 'Goth' topic made me realise how much I miss Edward. He was my favourite character 'til Zoe popped up.

My dream character would probably be someone who can easily manipulate people and don't care about them. A real sociopath. But a main character. That'd be neat. *daydreams*

Yeah I was about to say in reference to a post above Edward was a goth and he totally worked. Also he did not have a goth g.friend - he had Peta who was not a goth - different but in a different way. :D I loved those two - not nec. together, just as characters they were the closest H and A has ever come to being a bit daring like Neighbours.

Whoever said H and A lacks diversity at the moment is so right. All the characters look the same, dress the same, speak the same...

Why should they be a rebel? I think it would be more likely that they'd be a bit quiet and introverted rather than being rude and obnoxious like Belle and Drew.

Edward was a great character, I loved how he was written – he was on a journey, his and Peta’s relationship was very private and I liked how most of there storylines were quite separated to the rest of the cast. Edward’s Goth stuff was refreshing and worked, as he didn’t enter and then transform, he was written as a pretty deep character – Peta the same (I always thought they would have worked really well in Heartbreak High too)…he made gradual transitions in a life facing an imminent demise, it was a strange thing to introduce a permanent character that was already dieing, he was barely there a year though was he?! – I also loved his relationship with Judith and Mr Fisher!!

I reckon the show could do with another youthful kinda excentric like Maz, someone to bring a sense of innocence and humour, though very strong minded in there approach to life and the decisions he/she makes…someone along those lines

I'd like someone to come along that everybody falls in love with, but harbours dark secrets that would tear the 'oh so tight' town of people apart. :P Because I'm evil like that..... :P

I've just realised who much that sounds like I'd be describing Zoe.
