As the finale draws near...

I've got a series of finale reviews on my computer here that I planned to have uploaded each day during next week. Since BTTB is "No Update City", they've been canned until November 2007 at the earliest.

I agree with Ste on the 2005 finale. I would struggle to name all the cliffhangers today.

The 2000 finale in the UK aired when I didn't look up H&A sites and genuinely didn't know whether or not Ailsa died. Some of the tension was lost however, when the aired a promo soon after showing parts of the funeral.

I loved the 2000 season finale which I loved not to metion when Alisa died at the end of the season :( I also didn't like 2005 season finale for some reson I though it would make 2006 having way to much drama not like 2004 where it was great and everyone was happy for the first time I have seen them :)

For me, a few come to mind. I loved the 1996 one when Chloe and Brad went off into the mountains and Chloe discovered it was Brad who had raped her. The rest of Summer Bay were gathered singing Christmas Carols. As Chloe ran for her life, she eventually trapped Brad in an animal trap.In the background the locals sang Silent Night as Chloe was faced with the choice of killing Brad or not....

That sounds awesome! I wish I had have seen it!

I don't have a lot to choose from cause I can only remember three: 2003, 2004, and 2005. I hate the Sutherlands, so that's 2003 out. 2004 was nice, but I prefered the "Christmas" episodes before it with the Kim/Kit, Robbie/Tash, Kirsty/Kane stuff - those are some of my favourites :). I did like Noah appearing with Hayley at the very end while Paulini sang "Silent Night" over the top of it, and if I remember correctly there were some shots of Dalby alone in the city, which I thought was a nice contrast. I think there may have been a "Johnny Farnham" reference in there somewhere as well, so I won't complain about that :D

My favourite is 2005 though. While there were a lot of cliffhangers, I think the trick is to focus on the one/s that really matter to you. For me, that was Kim. That was one of his best episodes. Making up with Hayley, pretending that he was okay for her sake, and then going off and having a drug overdose... it was so...gosh, I don't even know the words. It was an incredible feeling of loss and acceptence... he accepted that he'd lost everything... That moment where the door closes behind him stands out to me more than anything else - more than Zoe's return! That shot was something special.

Robbie yelling Tasha's name and Dan crying to Leah were also standouts for me.

The Chloe/Brad one was the best by a mile. But for a change, 2004 with Noah reappearing as a ghost at the end to Hayley was really sweet.

I really disliked last year - so much happened, it all left me cold. And Zoe's reappearance tacked on at the end was awful as I knew I'd have to endure her again the next year.
