As the finale draws near...

For me, a few come to mind. I loved the 1996 one when Chloe and Brad went off into the mountains and Chloe discovered it was Brad who had raped her. The rest of Summer Bay were gathered singing Christmas Carols. As Chloe ran for her life, she eventually trapped Brad in an animal trap.In the background the locals sang Silent Night as Chloe was faced with the choice of killing Brad or not....

Another great one was 2003. The main story in that episode was the Sutherlands falling down the mineshaft and that was a good story in its own right but for me the biggest bombshell was that Tasha was Angie's daughter!! I was in Australia when that episode aired and the whole house gasped in disbelief!!

Last year was probably my favourite ever. There was so much packed into one episode....Scott and Hayley leaving, Amanda and Graham getting married, Tasha chose the Believers, Kim moved onto hard drugs, a storm was brewing and the biggest shock was Zoe working in the hospital in the city!!

I don't like the happy peaceful finales like they had in 2004. Bring on the drama I say!!

My favourite remains the 2002 Season Finale.

Ailsa's comeback...is that the one? The look on Alf's face when he walked into the diner and she was there!!

It's a tough choice between 2002 and 2005 but 2005 would have to be my favourite.

So much happened in that finale episode, it was written so well. The first half focused on their 'happy lives' with Jack & Martha getting back together, Hayley & Kim making up, Hayley and Scott leaving etc. Then the second half focused on the drama. Leah & Dan breaking up with Leah pregnant, Kim moving onto drugs, Tasha leaving Robbie for the Believers, Graham and Amanda getting married with Beth besides them. Flynn telling Sally he wants to end his life... And then the scene which sticks out for alot of people, when we learnt Zoe was still alive and out there.

The music I thought was great with the finale segment of the episode. It was all 'sad-dramatic' stuff which fitted well with all the scenes. Actually one of the songs I want to download is the one that was playing in Noah's when Tasha met up with Jonah... Does anybody know what it's called?

A great way to end the year I thought. No one's life was on the line and Zoe returned :P

Until I started coming onto this forum, I never realised there were seasons as such, I always just assumed that H&A was like the soaps here in the UK and that it just ran continuously for the whole year. So until 2005, I never realised there were season finales, meaning that I have absolutely no idea which episodes were finales or where one season ended and the next one started.

In the UK we don't have the whole drama of the season finale, because the season ends on a Friday and we see the next episode on the following Monday, so it's not like there's a huge cliffhanger and we're left wondering what's going to happen and having 6 weeks or something to actually think about it like they do in Australia!

1996, and 2004 were my favourites for entirely different reasons. 1996 was very dramatic and just perfectly filmed and edited together, even though ITV did cut it. 2004 was just a perfect episode, season finale or not.

2005 was my least favourite finale. Whoever wrote it seemed to think cramming it with loads of mini-cliffhangers would equal a good finale and most of them were so contrived such as Leah's pregnancy, clearly just thrown in for the sake of another cliffhanger because a few episodes into the new season she miscarried. Whether it's about drama or just a nice happy episode, it should always be about quality not quantity as 1996 and 2004 showed.

I disagree about the 2003 finale being good. The Sutherlands had dominated the screen WAY too much for the past three years, especially over the past 22 with the KK saga. The last thing we needed was a season finale surrounding them. And the story was not good. Suddenly Summer Bay was a mining town? Strange we had never heard that before. And the mine itself, where did that come from? It's never been mentioned before and it's never been mentioned since. It was utter contrived crap! The writing and acting once the characters were stuck down there was really good though, it was just the story itself which was stupid. The Tasha revelation was great though. I would have been happy if that alone had been the finale.
