Chapter Twenty

Martha sat, leaning into Jack. It was 5 months since Jack’s accident and a death had happened since then. A death of a much loved Summer Bay resident. Rachel Hyde had been hit a hit and run accident, taking her life, four months after her and her husband, had become parents. The adoption had gone through, they’d adopted two children, three year old Hannah and one year old Lily. Rachel had been innocently crossing the road, following Hannah as she’d crossed the road. The idiot driver hadn’t been paying proper attention, and had knocked the mother of two flat “I can’t believe she’s gone.” Martha murmured, the fact that her good friend had been killed was bad enough news for anyone “How’s Kim handling it? They just got the best news of their life, two children. Two children who had already lost their parents now their losing their mother? That’s just beyond cruel. Hannah lost her parents to suicide and Lily also lost hers in a car accident.” Martha said, leaning into Jack “It made me realise that we should have something written in our wills, something that stats what will happen to Aria and Callan if anything happens to us.” She said, leaning back from Jack.

“I agree, who should they go to though?” Jack asked her, taking her hand.

“Maybe your father, or Ric?” She said, desperate.

“We’ve got to clear this with them but I’m sure they’d agree. I’m sure they wouldn’t want one of their brood in a foster home.” He assured her.

“Alright.” She said, then Martha realised she was crying.

“Her death was only a few days ago, you’re feelings are going to be raw.” Jack assured her. The funeral for Rachel was in a few days time, and the Bay was rallying around Kim and the two kids. Martha, who lived in the same house, included Hannah in her daily things, and since there wasn’t that big of an age gap between Lily and Callan, she often let them play, rather crawl, together.

“Rachel Marie Hyde, 1978-2006.” Martha read, her arm around Aria and pushing Callan in the pram, as Jack was one of the people carrying the coffin with Kim, Dan, Peter, Brad and Alf.

“It’s tragic.” Leah admitted quietly, leading VJ, Ryan and Maria, her and Dan’s daughter, into the church.

Barry was minding Hannah and Lily, until Kim came in and took them from her.

Then, the ceremony was set to begin.

aww that was soo sad i feel so bad for kim and the 2 little girls but kim will be a good dad and jack and martha will help as will the rest of the bay argh i hope nothing bad happens at the funeral well great update paris update ASAP!!!!
