You can also get a few shots at a bar.

Lol!

Thanks guys. I think the general answer is "We don't know." Lol.

If he was an alcoholic for 50 episodes though, he was an alcoholic full stop. Like Merc said, once you're an alcoholic, there's no curing. Even if you haven't touched a drink in years, that doesn't mean you're cured.

Hmm... I still think the bar was a stupid (but funny) idea.

It only takes a sip to go right back again.

Well if he was he still managed to drink after the storyline. He had a beer in his hand heaps of times after that which is pretty dodgy.

Since when have Home and Away ever been known for continuity?! People seem to age at different rates in Summer Bay, and names are mysteriously changed...it wouldn't surprise me if Noah had a secret job as a wine-merchant that we didn't know about while he was on the show! :P

If I remember correctly (and seeing as I have this storyline taped and have rewatched it fairly recently, I should hope I do), Flynn (who was first introduced to the show as Noah's councillor) gave Noah a unusual strategy to recovering from the problem. Flynn said that Noah should drink in moderation, not give up completely. Irene didn't agree, but Noah managed to do this eventually. This would explain why Noah still drank.

That's right, you'd think i'd remember considering i have those episodes on tape to,lol.I just find it strange becourse you don't hear of many people who're alcoholics yet still drink and manage not to go back to old ways. Most people either never have another drop or struggle with it a lot.Noah never seemed to give it another thought, though as Jess pointed out, this is H&A!

If I recall correctly, Noah started drinking heavily and frequently. Irene was sure he was an alcoholic and took exception to Flynn suggesting that Noah was not an alcoholic. Flynn did not advise Noah to stop drinking, but gave him strategies to control it, which he eventually did successfully.

He was then shown over the remaining part of his run on the show occasionally drinking beer with his friends (in the Home and Away generic beer bottles with the blue labels). So he wasn't an alcoholic (despite Irene thinking so) but he did have a problem at the time, which he overcame. So there was no addiction/disease.

I also therefore don't think he had a problem and it was not insensitive to call the bar Noah's... since he wasn't an alcoholic. If anything, Noah was a shining example of responsible drinking and how control can be regained and alcoholism avoided. In fact, there is no other acceptable name for the bar, apart from Noah's Bar. It was meant to be.

Yeah, I don't think he was an alcoholic, his body wasn't craving alcohol, he just didn't want to be sober and think about what was going on in his life, which is a different thing. Many people take drugs to escape real life, they may do it when they are feeling down and the drug use may last for weeks or even months. This doesn't necessarily mean that they are addicted to the drug, they just want to take it to avoid reality, but could actually stop at any time should their circumstances or general attitude take a turn for the better.
