~Angel~ Posted December 16, 2006 Report Posted December 16, 2006 I don't know why so many people hate home and away. One of the girls in my school hates it because it doesn't have too many sexual type of scenes... Stupid or what?
alexx Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I used to take Neighbours seriously, but now I can’t seem to do that, there’s always this underlying thing where I am aware that they are acting in a warehouse with sets…etc I think the camera quality is dated now too, but don’t think the show would suit a more filmic look the way it is at present… Having said all of that, I still love how the show used to be, really liked it up until at least 2002 – started loosing interest during the Nina and Jack stuff….
Ryan Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I think the show took a bad move to completely renovate every set at the start of the 2005(?) season.
alexx Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 Definitely, they all look very very similar and make the interior of the houses appear a lot smaller and they don’t match the outside of the house. Madge and Harold’s place suited the exterior, and you could believe it was the inside of the house, now it just looks like an Ikea set. I think they made a complete mess of the Lassiters complex, it looks so unbelievable now, its daft – they way it used to be looked really appealing and like somewhere id like to hang out at, now it just looks like cardboard, which a pathetic paddling pool in the centre! lol Along with the new sets, they brought in different scores which make it appear like a kids comedy at times.
emmasi Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I like Neighbours. It's comfortable and welcoming. I like the fact that I can choose not to watch if for a week and not be punished for it. I can still pick up on what's going on. H&A feels like a chore at times. I sometimes think that the reason I get so disappointed with it is because I expect too much. It's a TV show, made on a TV show budget with an insane filming schedule. If I hadn't dedicated every weekday of my life to it over the past couple of years, I might not notice. As it is, I feel they "owe" me or something H&A is more entertaining because there are prettier things to look at and the angst is always running high. Neighbours is more relaxed and doesn't take anything too seriously, which appeals to me as well, but doesn't demand my attention every night. I really hope that ratings aren't as important as everyone makes out. I mean, you're talking about Channel Ten in Australia. Their backbone is Simpsons reruns. Is anyone really that worried that they'll do away with one of the few shows that allows them to reach their Australian made quota? If Neighbours was on Seven - aka, Killy McGee - it would have been axed years ago. Oh wait, it was . Let's just hope that Home and Away never falls out of the top Ten because Seven will be just itching to replace it with something else... which they won't give a chance and will then axe... *coughHeadlandcough* In conclusion, H&A = demanding and tense = ratings Neighbours = free and easy = good times
alexx Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 I don’t think 7 would be that quick to axe H&A - I get a feeling they’re very sentimental about it, after all it is the longest running show they have! I like aspects of Neighbours, I like how the character driven stuff is prominent, but I think some of the characters have run their course, Lou being one. Its nice that he's still around, but give him something to do...there’s only so many cheesy schemes he can do, its got boring. I also like how there is some happiness in the show still, and they every so often end an episode on a happy note, as home and away used to do so much. I'll always catch up on it to see how its going, but cant see myself getting hooked again, maybe that will change in the future, but as present, I'm over Neighbours...
Furzie Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The last time I ever watched Neighbours was when Harold has just returned after drowing or something in the sea? I am right that this was a storyline - or am I dreaming this up? I tuned out just after that and never ever watched another episode since - so when someone on here talks about a neighbours character, I haven't got a clue what they are talking about. I lost all interest - and from what I hear about the show it seems its well worth missing.....
~Angel~ Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 The last time I watched Neighbours was when Camella kissed connor in that disco they were at... I don't remember all that well but they were at a disco and Camella kissed Connor...
xGlowingAngelx Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 It's been a good few years since I watched neighbours. Then again, aside from a couple of my family members, I don't know anyone else who watches Home and Away besides me.
freakybuffy Posted December 17, 2006 Report Posted December 17, 2006 ^^ i know what you mean, the last thing i watched of neighbours as when karl just started to see that blonde lass from rogue traders (sorry not sure on her name). i remember flicking through the channels and nothing was tv so i decided to watch HAA and i've been addicted ever since. none of my friends watch HAA i don't understand why it's 1 of the best programmes on tv at the minute.
