I'm not sure if I need to put this in spoiler tags but I will just to be sure...

As far as I can remember, the Potters are Pureblood, are they not? At least if they're not, then JKR never said anything about it. And apparently all the Pureblood families are related. So then yes, it's pretty likely that Harry and Voldy are related in some very, very distant way.

No, because

Harry's mum is muggle born (or a mudblood, as Voldy would say). However, I was looking at family trees of Harry Potter on Wikipedia (*shock*) and it did explain that Voldy and Harry are very distantly related, in some way.

Right :P (not my best day today!)

Well, according to Wikipedia (which can be trustworthy)

Harry is categorised as a "half-blood" wizard in the series, because although both his parents were magical, his mother, Lily Evans, was "Muggle-born". According to Rowling, to characters for whom wizarding blood purity matters Lily would be considered "as loathsome as a Muggle", and derogatively referred to as a "Mudblood." To be a "pure-blood" wizard, both parents and all grandparents also would have to be wizards and witches.

Harry's father, James Potter, was born into a "pure-blood" wizarding family as the only child of somewhat elderly parents. It is likely Harry is distantly related to other pure-blood families through his father, since according to Harry's godfather, Sirius Black, all the old pure-blood families are related. Harry inherited a small fortune from his parents, which is stored in Gringotts Wizarding Bank in Diagon Alley, London. He later inherits Sirius' property, Number Twelve, Grimmauld Place.

Harry may also be related to his godfather. In the film, according to the Black family tree, Charlus Potter married Dorea Black, granddaughter of Phineas Nigellus Black, with the result that James and Sirius may have been first cousins, once removed. This seems to contradict Rowling's statements that James's parents were "old in wizarding terms" when they died, because she has also said that wizards have "a much longer life expectancy than Muggles" — Dorea died at only 57. However, Charlus and Dorea were born into the same generation as Sirius's grandparents, so it is possible they might be James's parents. Regardless, since no living Potter relatives or any unrelated wizards named Potter have yet appeared in the series, it is possible that Charlus Potter, and thus Sirius, was somehow related to Harry. In this way, Harry is in fact at least distantly related to almost all pure-blooded wizarding families, including that of Lord Voldemort (Voldemort's grandfather, Marvolo, stated he was descended from the Peverells, whom Harry is also a direct descendant.) However, any consanguinity would be limited, as their only known common ancestor lived many generations before the timeline of the Harry Potter novels.

Page 233 - something happened!! :o

Is anyone else really p*ssed off with all the politics in this book? I thought I was reading a children's fantasy novel, not a fictionalised retelling of the witch hunt/communist/racial prejudice/etc... stuff... It's fine for background to give the wizarding world a sense of reality, but it seems like the main focus of this book, and it's not what I signed on for. Maybe I'm supposed to be impressed by how well Rowling is holding up a mirror to society... but... I'm not. I'm just really really bored. I've read text books more riveting than this. Shorter too...

I finished it last night.

Great book I was alittle disappointed with some bits of it..and the rest is spoilers..

I was so happy that Ron didn't die and Hermione..Before the book I bet everyone had the feeling that Harry would die,so I never thought much about that,I just didn't want Ron to die..Or any of the Weasleys,so I was very upset when Fred died..Also Lupin,I wish that we got to read about his death and more of the mourning for them. I loved that Percy came back, it wouldn't of been right without him.

Loved it when Ron and Hermione kissed..That was so funny and at the right time and place.

It was a shame we didn't see more of Hagrid and I was glad to read how proud McGonagall was of Harry and still calling him 'Potter'.

I am a fan of the books and movie but havent read the books so much to know straight away who the characters were that were mentioned,so bits of it confused me,having to try and remember who they were.

Not sure if I was the only one who throughout most of the book thought that Madeye survived. We never 'saw' his death and his body was never found,up until Harry found his eye on the door to Umbridge's office, but even then I wasn't sure he really was dead.

I laughed at the house elves fighting and standing up for themselves and others. That was great.

I also felt sorry for the Malfoys, even though Draco seemed to be more of the 'evil do-er' in this book compared to his parents who just wanted him to be safe. It showed that they would only go so far and would choose their family safe and alive over everything else, even if they had to lie and disobey Voldemort.

I felt sorry for Snape aswell..We finally found out what he was about, he was angry and upset but all along was trying to protect and help Harry, even if it was under Dumbledores orders, all for Lily.

I am glad we got to see the future of them, but before that I really wanted to see the mourning for the dead. I think that needed to be shown and was sad to see it wasn't.

I wanted to know what Harry had become and the others. He lived and he grew up,married Ginny and had kids..But what was he? Did he become a Auror and what did the others become?

I loved the names of the kids, even Severus as a middle name. But were Ron and Hermione's kids named after people like Harry and Ginny's?

The only 2 things that I am still confused about, who was the baby that was moaning and crying when Harry 'died' and was talking to Dumbledore. And who is Victoire? Teddy was 'snogging' her at the end of the book.

I would of loved to have seen how George was,but that was more of me liking the twins alot and wanted to know what happened after.

Also was there a point of Lupin's death? Was it needed. I would just of liked to have seen some adults closer to Harry survive. I know Mr and Mrs Weasley survived (Go Mrs Weasley at the end! lol)..But after Jame's death and Sirius..It would of been good if Lupin had lived.

I was imaging some of it how it would be in the movie and was disappointed with the fact that they used alot of Polyjuice potion and it wont actually be 'Harry' who is at his parents graves.

In an interview, JK said that Harry and Ron both became Aurors, Harry was at the head of the department. Hermoine is somewhere high up in the Magical Law Enforcement.

The moaning/crying baby was the piece of Voldemort's soul that lived in Harry.

As for Victoire, JK also said that she was Fleur and Bill's oldest daughter.

Thanks, glad they became Aurors.

Its still disappointing that it wasnt made clear in the books what Harry,Ron and Hermione had become and that it was in a interview,If I hadnt of asked,I would never had known.
