Harry Potter - love or hate it?

Ooooh, man, I've been up since before 5am finishing it. I got a free beanie owl too, awesome!

And...argh!

Fred! How could she do that to Fred? I will never, so long as I live, love another set of twins as much as I loved Fred and George!!!! Which, when it comes down to it, is probably a good thing...

I may be horrible and sadistic, but I think the end was just a litte TOO neat and perfect. I think it would have been a lot more satisfying to have one of the trio die, really. I mean, look at Buffy...perfect ending. Endings to series like that, in my opinion, need to be kind of bittersweet, not sweet sweet. I felt like I'd just eaten a candy store.

BUT FRED!?!?!?!?! Why, why why why did she have to kill Fred??????

But all in all, I enjoyed it lots and now have my own little owl! Hoorah!

ETA: And I'm so proud of myself that I managed to resist the temptation of reading the last few chapters first, or reading any spoilers or the copy online. And it's pretty...soooo pretty...

I really enjoyed reading the 7th, I just finished. There were so many deaths! I was never really a fan of the

Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermione relationships... but all ended well in the end... Fred! NO! I couldn't believe it!

I've just finished reading The Deathly Hallows,it only took me about 12 hours! I thought it was absolutely brilliant. A fitting way to end to end the series. JK Rowling has done Harry proud! :)

I started this morning and have read five chapters. That's quite good for me :). It is written rather addictively so when I sensed a lull I ran before I got caught up in the 6th chapter, which looks intriguing by the title lol...

Obviously sad that Hedwig died, and Moody... but mostly I'm just greatful that the Remus/Tonks wedding happed in between books and we didn't have to see it. I appreciated that so much that I'm even able to read on without growling with pent-up rage whenever Tonks is around... I find it's much easier to read that way.

I loved it. It was a fantastic book. I hated the fact

Fred, Colin Creevy, Tonks and Lupin were the one's who died. Especially since Tonks and Lupin were leaving a brand new baby.

Loved the bit at the end. I have to admit that it dawned on me during the last few chapters that it was the end of it all. I'll never read a Harry Potter book for the first time again. It made me cry....I'm such a wimp.

Paha, ive only read 2 chapters, but i already know how its ends :P Actually i found out before the book was even released :P Well what i read was a rumour, and i got it confirmed today :)

Mm, yes... I accidentally read the gist of the epilogue online . I wasn't pleased with it, but I have to keep reminding myself that it's an EPILOGUE, not a chapter... it's not supposed to be good, it's just supposed to wrap everything up, lol. I'm sure the REAL ending is much better, if the start of the book is anything to go by :D

I'm looking forward to Fleur-Harry being all lovey-dovey with Bill in the movie, hehehehe... They'd be fools to cut comedic gold like that

:P

Wow...so that's the end of Harry Potter...

I've never done the spoiler tags before so if the next bit isn't in black DON'T READ IT YET!

How awesome was the whole battle scene! Hogwarts uniting, even the statues and I loved the house-elves with their knives lol. Dobby and Hedwig's deaths affected me the most despite them being not human. I could not believe she killed off Hedwig, I was expecting her to fly back at any moment. But I suppose it would be stupid to have a snowy owl to tend to while on the run. Still

:( I'm partly disappointed yet relieved not to see the full reaction of George realising Fred's death. I was such a sook during the entire book. I'm glad Snape turned out to be Dumbledore's man. The ending was very cheesey but at least it was happy. I feel it could have been better. It was good to know Neville was a Professor, I would've expected Rowling to have something on Luna though. Does anyone actually know who Victoire was? I couldn't work it out, I'm guessing a Weasley though.

EDIT: yay it worked...

I'm guessing Bill and Fleur's daughter, by the French name.

And I was pretty disappointed that they killed of Lupin and Tonks when they'd just had Teddy, though. It was Harry all over again...can anyone say spinoff? Teddy Lupin and the Philosopher's Stone, teehee. Oh, and was anyone else disappointed the Dursley's never reappeared? That first bit with Dudley really got me sniffling...on the train!
