Harry Potter - love or hate it?

Dumbledore must feature in it somehow. ( I hope) :)

They use the quote "The ones we love never truly leave us" quite a lot.

I just hope they don't kill off Harry, Hermione, Ron or Ginny is book 7. :(

I really like Dumbledore but somehow I think it is almost better that he is dead. I can see him somehow helping Harry through the 7th but if he was still around then maybe Dumbledore would be the one to kill off Voldemort, not Harry, and that would kind of defeat the purpose of the series. This way, Harry can get help but it is still down to him. I've got a feeling Snape might die in the 7th. Whether that be defending Harry or because of him I don't know.

I watched the 5th movie yesterday. I loved it. Probably my favourite HP movie, well after HP4. And i cried when

Sirius died

:(

Cant wait for the book. I know i wont be able to read it properly till the Summer holidays, but i do want to know who dies. Hopefully i can get it out of someone :)

I thought I was going to but didn't! I loved the film but wanted more moments with Sirius and Harry.

I've create a Harry Potter forum, (Link in my sig) so i'm sure someone will post how it ends on there, if you really want to know!

I think 1 of the trio will die, not sure which one tho!

I would love to see Malfoy and his dad sharing a cell at Azkaban, Snape dead and Hargid have a major part in the final battle!

I'd rather Draco die than go to Azkaban. He doesn't deserve to wind up there. He cried, people. Death Eaters don't cry... especially not for their mother's lives...

*Hugs Draco.*

Wow, it feels like the whole world is goin' HP crazy at the moment...

I'm actually back here with a theory about DH (I won't comment any more on the leaked "carpet" version, other than to say that from the reaction it's been getting from fans, I'd be pretty pissed off right now if I was JKR and this is, in fact, the real deal). It occured to me while watching OotP for the second time last night...

JKR always said it's important that Harry "has his mother's eyes" and that we will discover the significance of this in future books. We also know that Snape used to be a Death Eater (don't we, or have I just invented that?), or possibly still is. I, being the eternal optimist for Severus that I am, think that Snape defected over to the "other side" (away from Voldemort), for whatever reason, but worked as a kind of double agent and so his defection was kept secret from Voldemort (I'm sure there's probably some elaborate plot device to explain this since it would be pretty hard to hoodwink He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named by ordinary means - but I'm not JKR, so I ain't gonna speculate). So, then, when Snape learnt of his 'Master's' plans to massacre the Potters, he got worried because it would involve the death of his beloved Lily. So Voldemort sparing Lily's life was Snape's "reward", hence it being made known to Harry that his mother had the chance to "step aside" to save herself, but she didn't - she saved her son, instead. This kind of motherly sacrifice means that Harry was also protected from Voldemort, hence the rebounding of the Adava Kedava curse. That would also tie in with Harry having to return to the Dursleys' every summer to continue this protection, with them being his only surviving relatives.

This theory would also go some way towards explaining Snape's animosity towards Harry, and James. Every time he sees Harry, he's reminded of Lily through the boy's eyes and also the fact that he is the reason that she's no longer alive. After all, one presumes that if Lily had stepped aside, then Voldemort would've spared her. Although there's no history of Voldemort particularly giving his followers "rewards" (other than their lives), the importance of killing Harry may've made him take exception to this.

Snape's hatred of James, therefore would be twofold. Not only would he dislike him because of the bullying that Snape endured from James and the Marauders, but James stole Lily from him in his mind. And then this hatred would, by extension, be transferred to Harry, since James is no longer around to take the flack. That would make the scene in OotP where, in Occlumency lessons, Snape starts on the diatribe about how weak and pathetic James was. It serves two purposes - giving us a small clue about this theory, and also encouraging Harry to close his mind off.

Thoughts?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

NB: This is merely my theory on things. I haven't read any of the leaked versions (apart from the epilogue) and so it's totally non-spoilerish for DH.

Snape had a thing for Lily??? I never knew that. What a butt <_<

I will alwayz hate Snape for killing Dumbledore. Even if he is working as a double agent, i'll still hate him.

Good theory though Jess :)

I can't wait to get the new HP book tomorrow or next week. Weird I had a dream about how HP ends in the finale book...

*Harry and his friends survives the battle with Voldemort who dies. Harry and Cho gets married. Ron and Hermonie ends up as a couple including Ginny and Nevllie too.

I don't think it would be true. I can't wait to see what would happen in the end when I read the book.

I don't like this theory.

...

I LOVE it! :o

It's going to be sad to think that after this book we will never again have our various speculations confirmed... Still, I guess that's what fic is for.
