Hi I’m not 100% sure if this is aloud, so if it’s breaking any rules please delete this post!

With the film and book onlya few weeks away (Well Flim: 26, Book: 34 days to be exacted) :) I’ve created a Harry Potter forum. So if you fancy chatting about any anything relating to HP here's the place to do it!

Hope to chat to you soon!

They are kind of running at the same time... so all the posts will be put together simultaneously, which isn't good. :P [Thinks]

Well for HP4 I couldn't see it the first few nights, so i'm not making that mistake again!

I pre-odered the book about Feb! I didn't even know when it was going to be out, I just did it! I'll be one of the few who are waiting at midnight to buy it! I know very sad but I don't care. Only about 22 days to go! I'm so excited!

From BBC news:

More than 60 experts on witchcraft from across the world are gathering in a tiny Arctic town in northern Norway.

For three days in Vardo they will have discussions, lectures and the odd film show on ancient and modern sorcery.

The International Midnight Sun Witchcraft Conference is organised by Scandinavian and US universities.

Organisers say persecution is a thing of the past in Europe, but in parts of Africa and Asia men, women and children are still accused of witchcraft.

As in the past, experts say, victims are often singled out by their communities and made scapegoats for outbreaks of disease, bad weather or other misfortunes.

As well as touching on these issues, the Norwegian conference will also discuss Shamanism - a practice that centres on communication with the spiritual world, mostly through animal spirits.

Some experts claim that Shamanism predates all other organised religions.

But beyond the scholars and believers attending this week's conference, witchcraft has recently gained a new and rather younger circle of enthusiasts, following the publication of the best-selling Harry Potter books - and films - one of which has its worldwide premiere today.

During a 17th-Century witch-hunt in Vardo, about 80 women were burnt at the stake.

Reports from the time indicated they were accused of meeting with the devil at the nearby "witch mountain".

During the 16th and 17th centuries it is estimated that up to 50,000 people were executed for alleged sorcery across Europe.

That is a rather random article . JK Rowling has said that she doesn't believe in witchcraft, and that no child has ever come up to her and said that reading Harry Potter has made them want to persue it...

I do believe in witchcraft. Not to the extent of physically accessable parallel dimensions and schools of witchcraft and wizardry... but I do believe in magic, and communicating with spirits.

It seems like this person is has just included a reference to the books to make an incohesive report on... I'm not sure what... sound more interesting. Jumping from Harry Potter to real human death and connections to Satanic superstician within the space of three sentences is a little extreme.

Thanks for posting it anyway. It gives me chills to think of the suffering people went through/go through for simply being in tune with a higher power, and more people than that being put through hell for nothing at all...

I think, as a matter of fiction, witchcraft is perfectly acceptable, but as a matter of fact... well. Criss Angel doesn't call himself an "illusionist" for nothing. That's all I'm saying...

Totally agree, Jem.

There is a definite difference between fantasy and real witchcraft. These 'new followers' obviously aren't being taught that (or their parents are unaware of the fact or shy away from what they think is evil) and that's alarming. They don't know what they're getting themselves into. While true witchcraft is positive and empowering, kiddies who want to be like their favourite characters will go into it with their eyes wide shut, and this will only further pee off those 'parents' groups and drag the title of witch even further in the mud.

I hope I made sense. That article confuzzled me.
