The last time it was must-see for me was only during Bevan's recent stint as script editor, so it could happen again. Right now I watch it and it's like meeting up with a slightly incoherent old friend you've drifted apart from.

At one stage I wished it would just be axed in place of a teen soap, so I could leave it alone. The only reason I watch is in hope it will change direction, and to see how Sally, Alf, Irene and Morag are going. I like some of the other cast, but not enough to keep me hooked anymore. (such as Leah and Dan, Drew and Belle…) The rest can be entertaining at times, but if they were the same, but characters in some random other show I know I wouldn’t bother watching.

I wouldnt want it axed of course because that will be really sad as it was once on of my fav soaps, although If I was certain that my fav characters/actors would never return or be mentioned then I wouldnt care if it was axed, actually I dont care anymore if any shows on TV are axed because there so boring and not of interest to me , a few years back I never missed an episode of H&A, I used to love it then not just because of my fav actors, but now on the whole, and with my fav actors leaving I lost interest in the show It would never be the same if even one of the most popular characters came back

I have been watching home and away now for about 18 years, my first memory was when the fletchers moved to summer bay.

I can't remember when I started watching the show, I remember Bobby, Steven, Sophie etc. I have no recollection of Roo Stewart though, not sure if I was watching it whilst she was in it. I remember Don and Marilyn getting together, Selina's involvement with Saul's cult, Justine's stint in that dodgy play... I remember Shane and Angel, although I don't actually remember much about their storylines I remember thinking they were really sweet. I remember Sam being really small, he was cute! I started watching religiously during secondary school, probably about 1996, although I watched it pretty frequently before that too.

I started watching 'religiously' just before the Stalker stuff aired in the UK, so not that long, really. Although I do have random and disconnected memories of Leah and Flynn's kiss, Nick and Angie thingy (they were before the stalker weren't they?) I can't really remember specifics, just seeing the odd episode and reading about it in TV guides. Gah, I feel like such a Newbie!

I've watched on and off since the first episode, but my degree of fandom has had distinct peaks and troughs. During certain eras I've been obsessed, but right now I can barely sit through an entire episode. Any other long-time viewers feeling that way too?

Yes, a bit , especially during the last 1 or 2 aussie episodes

I was watching an old video on the web with all the SB classic memories:both Pippas, Meg's death on the beach, Roo, Frank, Bobby, Shane and Angel, Fisher and Marilyn, and of course more recently episode 4000 and Flynn and Sally. The clips were brilliant. H&A is still a good soap, but watching the clips back shows how the show is now just going for drama and ratings rather than good character based storylines. Home and Away seemed much better then, but maybe it's just me.

So much has happened since then but it's interesting to see how all the hairstyles, fashions, characters, storylines etc have changed since then.
