alexx Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I think if Vinnie returned he would see an huge change in Leah. The girl he was married to was OTT, a bit of a goof, funny and cute…now she’s so serious. Leah is a favourite of mine, but has completely bored me in the past due to how she was written/or how Ada has changed her… I think if she had remained the same as when she arrived, and still gone through everything she had, she probably would rank in popularity so much higher with the audience than she does currently - I think we'd feel for her more. I agree that episode Vinnie came back was really well written. I like Dan, he suits the kind of girl Leah is today.

I agree with what you said about if Vinnie were to return he would see a huge change in Leah. But even though her character has had some boring storylines lately (or a lack of storylines) I think it makes sense for her not being exactly the same Leah that he knew back then. She's been through a lot; losing her husband, having a kid, all of VJ's operations, the business, the Pippa surrogacy, marrying Dan, being step-mom to Ryan, being part of a whole new family etc, she has a whole lot more responsibilty these days. I would assume those are reasons enough for her to be a different person now than whom she was back then. But at the end of the day she's still Leah. I would aslo think that if Vinnie were to return, he would be different from the Vinnie that he was when he was in the Bay...there is every chance that prison/witness protection, loosing his wife and son would change him.

Yes, although I've always felt that they complimented and brought out the best in each other. When Leah lost Vinnie, she lost a part of herself and I'd be interested to see whether or not his (hypothetical) return would relight her fire, so to speak.
alexx Posted May 6, 2007 Report Posted May 6, 2007 I agree all of those things would change you, but I think the change has been quite dramatic…I’ve got an old clip I downloaded a few of years ago of Leah in the Diner kitchen and she is hysterical, very OTT but its really funny…I could never imagine Leah being like that now. Thing is, I think if the writers had stayed true to the character around 2003 Leah would have acted differently within all of the situations she had been through, and would probably have handled things differently - I think she would have been more of a piece maker and wouldn’t have taken everything so seriously, and she probably should have been written more of an innocent, getting herself into deep situations with a sense of naivety (thinking the Jesee/Flynn/Leah/Sally stuff).
