Vinnie

Yes, but she had become "engaged to be engaged" to Dan and felt that she and VJ deserved a chance of some normality. That episode was one of the saddest I'd seen in a long time. Vinnie and Leah made a really fantastic couple and Leah used to be such a fantastic character before Vinnie was sent to jail.

It was one of those choices that would have meant so much upheaval...she really would have had to love him so, so much to want to choose that option. But not only that - she may well still love him, but she had thought he was dead! Therefore she had gone through the grieving processm already - and moved on. It was such a shame, I would have loved Vinniw to come back, even if they weren't together anymore. I know he needs to be under witness protection...but just imagine if he had come back... Maybe he and Sal could've rekindles their romance, now that Flynn has gone...

That episode was hilarious. The fact that he was 'disguised' in a bear suit really highlighted the fact that they couldn't get ryan back for filming. It was such a lame attempt and it was made worse by the fact that it was obviously an extra in that costume.

V-man I think seems more likely!

Also, abother thing has been bugging me... I seem to remember a blonde haired character...I think it was Finlay Roberts... She went surfing one day with a guy, and I'm sure something happened to do with a shark. She/he got attacked, or nearly attacked? The shark may have been a captured one in a box?

Was it indeed Finlay?

Was there such a story/event, or something similar?

Did this happen atall, or am I deluded and totally imagining it?

Lol, please someone tell me it happened, or else my memory must be totally messed with!

Around about episode 450 (around 1989/1990) a character called Rory began staying at the Fletchers, can't remember exactly why or how. Adam taught him how to surf and he Carly and Rory went out onto the beach from the surf club but just after they left the camera flipped to the radio warning of sharks in the Bay. Carly and Adam had been fighting but ended up making up and left the beach with Adam giving Rory his board to use. The episode ended with Rory being dragged under the water and a really badly edited shark in the sea. The next episode Rory was missing and the Bay finally got the warnings about the sharks and closed the beach. I think it was at the end of that episiode that Alf came round to the Fletchers and said human remains had been found and identified as Rory's.

The Fletchers were really upset but then Rory's sister turned up and said that his name wasn't Rory at all and that everything he had said to the Fletchers was a lie. Carly was the person most upset by this and she is blonde so maybe she's the girl you were thinking of?

Finlay didn't arrive in the bay until ~1991 episode 850 or something. I can't remember any incidents of her with a shark but I could be wrong.

I thought that it was fantastic just how well said extra adopted Vinnie's mannerisms, in a bear costume of all situations! I could totally believe that it was Vinnie in the costume and must applaud the actor for that.

I agree Liz. It's one of my favourite episodes. Sometimes I forget Ryan K wasn't actually in the episode because it's so well written, directed, and acted.

Well, that's Bevan Lee for you! What could've been a laughable, pathetic storyline (and what've would've been in the hands of a lesser writer) turned out to be a heart-wrenching storyline that was perfectly executed.

I missed this episode in fact I missed the whole storyline surrounding this. Vinnie is my favourite all time character. Is it possible to see this episode anywhere? Does someone have it in digital format which they can send me or a link to it somewhere on the web. Thanks!

I loved Vinnie so much - i could not understand in the slighest how Leah could go from Vinnie who was sexy and so so funny, to Dan, who if he has a sense of humor does not show through at all. I hope that they bring Vinnie back one day - so that he can be with his son and cause some tension with Leah. In my opinion i think that Leah should have left and gone into witness protection with Vinnie, so what if she is upheaving VJ and herself, if you love someone that much you would give up everything for them, and VJ and Vinnie deserved to have had the chance to know either other. It's unfair the Vinnie lose everything in his life because of Ralph.
