I guess you feel quite strongly about that then?!

I never really thought of it like that but i think it's just meant to be a shortened version of sweetheart. I would prefer 'sweet' to 'sweetie' through for some reason <_<

One thing i'm really not keen on is Irene calling people 'girlie'. Don't know why but i just don't lke it.

Irene tends to call people "girlie" when she's telling them off though, it's kind of patronising but puts those unruly teenagers in their place! They all seem to think they are all grown up and can do as they please, but Irene sets them straight! :D

LOL it's just one of those things that rubs me up the wrong way for no apparant reason. I don't mind Irene saying "girlie", she seems to only say it when she's annoyed about something (every episode then).

No, Tasha simply calls Irene 'Reenie' as a cute nickname, just like you might call a Rosie 'Rosie Wosie' or something like that!

In Pig Latin, you put the end of the word at the beginning, and the beginning at the end, and add 'ay'. So Irene is 'Rene-i-ay' in Pig.

You're right, apologies.

I always thought he called her "Boss". I think it was explained in one of Brad's first episodes, and Rachel was in the hospital?

Just saw that episode in NZ. Why Brad called Rachel Boss wasnt explained but why she called him Bubba was. When they were little some big kids were picking on Brad and Rachel went up to them, kicked one of them in the shins and said "dont you pick on my bubba" cause she couldnt say brother.

I had never heard Irene call Sally Toots but then I watched an old episode from about 1992 and she called her it throughout the episode. I never realised Irene and Sally were that close. When I started watching it in about 1996 she never called her that even though Sally was still quite young.

Yeah, Angie was Tarangela or something like that, clearly a play on the word Tarantula.

It really annoyed me how Kane and Kirsty called eachother Babe all the time, it was just cringeworthy!

Morag often refers to Colleen as "that stupid woman" although I don't think that really counts!

Martha is often called "Mac" and her brother is "Macca", not sure what his real name is though, I expect that he gets "Macca" for the same reason Martha gets "Mac", although you can never be sure.

Lots of people have shortened versions of their names, like Noah called Hayley "Hayles", Ric shortened his own name because he didn't want to be called Eric or Dalby because his dad called him Eric" and he didn't like it. Cassie's real name is Cassandra, same with Matilda shortening her name to Mattie, Lucas shortening his to Luc and Tasha is often called Tash. Sally is often called Sal and Pippa's real name is Phillipa. Kit is really called Katherine and Robbie is Robert. They don't really count as nicknames or anything though, just common shortened versions of those names.

AND Dani is really Danielle.. and they sometime call her Dan.

Matilda has a long name, but can't remember it now :P

Another Irene fav is "Darl" and kinda used in the opposite way.

Ah, thanks for explaining about Rachel and Brad.

Sally and Irene were very close up until around the time Irene started fostering (Selina). But before then they hung around together a lot (like Max and Colleen).

Matilda`s full name is Matilda Harriet June Hunter I think.

In one of last weeks episodes, she had sign her letter to Barry Hyde her full name.
