Recurring guest roles

Was Sandy a recurring character? She was the first teenager/child on the show who was victim to child abuse. Although Bobby and Carly were both abused before the show started Carly by her father and Bobby by her adoptive father.

Madge Wilkins is a recurring character, even though we never actually see her, as is Leah's friend Stella. They're just these people who are mentioned all the time to give the feeling that the characters have more friends than what we actually see, although I don't think they really count as recurring guest characters since they have never actually been seen on screen.

Stella is Vinnie’s mother – we saw her in 2001 but that’s it. I don’t think they count if they don’t physically appear.

Is that the same Stella who looks after VJ? I thought Vinnie's mother didn't live locally, I just assumed it was a different Stella.

I don't think they count as recurring guests when we don't see them, just thought I'd mention them as most characters who aren't seen are never actually mentioned either, I think it's only really Stella and Madge Wilkins who are recurring off-screen characters. When main characters leave, they tend not to be mentioned again.

In the posts above it has been confirmed at least twice that Stella is Vinnie's mother.

Not recently, but yes she has – she has said to VJ ‘come on we’re going to nanna’s’ or something along those lines, after saying ‘good-bye Stella’ on the phone.
