HAMMERFORLIFE Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 hey does anyone think that it would be a good idea to have one hour episodes every day of home and away in the uk instead of the usual half hour episodes we get now. This way we would be not as far behind Australia as we are now.
Lauz Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I'm sure people would like it but the network needs to run other shows unfortunately If it were up to me it'd be Home and Away 24/7
Si-Co Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 We're actually catching up with Australia very quickly. At the moment we're four months behind - in two years time we'll be almost on par with the Aussies. If we weren't catching up or of the gap was widening I would say definitely show some extra episodes or hour-long ones as you suggest, but as we're catching up by 6-8 weeks every year I don't think it's really necessary.
~Hayley~ Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 If you made them 1 hour long, then it'd take over (except for the fact that that would be impossible..LMAO...cuz then there'd be nothing to watch as eventually it would catch up to needing to watch it straight after being filmed...) Ah, yeah! I'm australia anyway, so doesn't matter for meeee
Jack+Martha4Eva Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 yes it would!!! they put grays anatomy on and haa is beta
Drew Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 You guys would catch up in a month if that happened. Next year you guys would be just a few weeks behind.
Tamxxx Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I'm sure people would like it but the network needs to run other shows unfortunately If it were up to me it'd be Home and Away 24/7 Same here, everything is kind of boring on TV omg I love Home and away so much, the more Home and away the better!
Tulip Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 1/2 hour is enough, I think. The cliffhangers wouldn't be as dramatic if it was an hour. Bring back the omnibus though. One hour repaets would be good, either of recent episodes of eps from the beginning of H&A but I think it's fine as it is. Maybe if they took Becker off they could show H&A and then an episode from when it began, so there's two sequences going on.
Green_Wing Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 It would be a good idea if we were like 1 year behind but we're only a few months. Bring back the omnibus, most of what five shows is rubbish. H&A, House and Grey's Anatomy are the only decent things on there.
Jess Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 I agree with what others have posted in the thread. Five has an agreement with Channel Seven that episodes will be shown in Australia before the UK, so if one hour episodes were to be aired, we would catch up too much. This would mean that we would have to take a break at the end of the season (like Australia do) or Five could cut down the number of episodes that are shown per week. IMO, both of these things would be negatives and they would not be counteracted by the pluses of showing the show in one hour episodes. I do, however, think that the omnibus should be brought back. Home and Away is Five's flagship soap after the *sad* demise of Family Affairs, so I wouldve thought that they would put more time and money into promoting and showong it.
