Summer Bay pregnancies

Was just thinking back about recent pregnancies in the show, and it occured to me that recently, none of the pregnancies themselves or the situations surrounding them are ever easy going or simple:

Sophie/ Sally/ Flynn

Sally and Flynn are over the moon to finally find a surrogate mother; they have a scan and discover they are having twins; Sophie discovers one baby has died; Sally and Flynn are devstated to find their baby has died and the other baby, which turns out to be Sophie's has survived; Sophie has the baby and has the prospect of bringing it up without Blake around

Leah/ Sally/ Flynn

Sally and Flynn finally get a second chance at surrogacy; pregnancy starts out well but then Leah decides she can't give the baby up even though it isn't hers; she then decides is in love with Flynn; the friendships of Leah & Jesse and Sally & Flynn are all tested; Jesse and Leah split up and she has to go it alone

Kirsty and Kane

First, she lies that she's pregnant when she isn't really; she finally becomes pregnant but find out she has a kidney problem; loses the baby she has come to love; gets pregnant again and her and Kane are extactic; Kane gets framed for a crime he didn't commit so the 'happy family' end before it's begun; KK decide tor un away and cut ties with eveyone so they can stay together

Hayley/ Scott/ Kim

Hayley has unprotected sex with two men in a short space of time; she finally makes it official with Scott but she find out she's pregnant; she has a paternity test to decifer the father; the stalker swaps the results and they think Kim's the father; the strain of the pregnancy breaks Hayley and Scott up and eventually she gets back with Kim; Hayley has heart problems and almost loses the baby; decides she doesn't love Kim anymore so eventually gets back with Scott; almost dies giving birth to the baby in the middle of nowhere; tells Kim she wants to move away with Scott but Kim objects and takes it to court; Kim gets hit by a car; they find out Scott is the father after all.

Leah and Dan

Find out Leah can't have children naturally anymore so struggle with IVF; break up just as she find out she's pregnant; she falls in the sea which nearly damaged the baby; argue and bicker until they finally find out the baby is dead.

then still to come...

Tasha/ Robbie/ Jonah : Tasha finds out about the Believer's 'destiny' and her pregnancy and that her baby is Jonah's; then with all the chopper fiasco she has lost Robbie and almost gone into premature labour

Basically, those are the main ones I can think of and none of them are easy in any way. Does anyone else think it's time for an easy pregnancy, maybe simply a happy couple deciding to have a baby and having no with no complications throughout? :P

I agree. I'm fed up of troubled pregnancies, it's such a predictable, common storyline, and a pregancy that goes well would be a breath of fresh air.

I completely agree too! But it seems like disasterous pregnancy's produce good storylines. But I must say it's getting a little old. Next time someone has a baby I think straight away "What's gonna go wrong this time?"

Leah and Vinnie's pregnancy went fairly smoothly. I think that she collapsed once or stepped on a needle or something, but nothing major really occured. Other than Vinnie being arrested at VJ's birth (which made fantastic, heartbreaking TV), the actual pregnancy was fairly smooth.

There were a lot of comical moments too, what with Vinnie's sympathetic cravings and morning sickness and their little pet names for the bub.

It was a well written pregnancy, IMO.

Yeah. Vinnies sympathetic cravings and morningsickness were hilarious.

I think Leah collapsed ones on the beach, but she was in and out of the hospital on the same day, so it wasn`t any major.
