I'm trying to do some research for a fic, but my tapes don't go back that far. Maybe Beth said something about it when she first came to the bay, or one of the kids. Does anyone remember?

Ok, thanks. I wasn't sure if it was that recent, but it probably was. This is H&A afterall, lol.

Was he already dead when Scott came to town, or was Jack's death the thing that brought the family all together? I wasn't really paying attention back then, dang it.

Jack Hunter had died before Scott entered the show.

"Yeah, he was. There was this one time I had a fight with them. We were always arguing about something. Usually to do with the running of the farm. Anyway, I went bush for a couple of days. Got a bit of time to cool down and to do a space bit. Two days later I’m riding through the back paddock on my way home and I saw dad. He must have been doing a last check of the place before dark. He looked over and saw me and waved. I remember thinking; I should go away more often. The old mans looked better than I’ve seen him ages. So, I went back and went on up to the house. When I got there mum was waiting. She told me dad had passed away a couple of hours earlier in hospital. Heart attack."

In some ways Jack's death, was the thing that drove the family apart.

Matilda and Henry were sent to boarding school because of Jack's death and Kit started drinking at the same time.

When I first started watching (around 2003 finale) I didn't realise Jack's death was so recent. They don't mention him that much. If my dad had died that recently, things would be really different and weird. They seem to get over deaths very quickly.
