Adelaide Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 I was just thinking back to old episodes and I remember that both Chloe and Selina lived with Irene, but how did that come about? Because I know Irene wasn't officially allowed to foster like Pippa was. Was it cos they were over 16? I remember Chloe's father being in some episodes but I can't remember about Selina.
c120701 Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 From Irene's profile on BTTB. Irene took in Selina in 1994 and decided to become a foster mother. The lady from the Department refused to allow her, until Selina talked to her, persuading her to change her mind. Irene has cared for a number of children and she is happy at the chance as she lost out when she was supposed to care for her own children.
ste Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Chloe paid rent to Irene which meant technically she was a lodger not a foster child I have the episode where Chloe first moves in with Irene and blows up the microwave.
Sunny Girl Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Could you put that up on the Summer Bay Journal please Ste ? Only if you get a chance . . . Thanks heaps . . . I love the site, and all the memories it brings back ! ! !
Adelaide Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Thanks for the info guys. I was a very irregular viewer back in those days so I never quite knew what was going on!
claire_louise Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Selina officially changed her name to Roberts, but Irene was never allowed to officially adopt her.
Adelaide Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 So were Selina's parents dead/absent, or did she just not get on with them?
ste Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 She didn't get on with her mother. Selina apparantly had always lived in Summer Bay but we didn't meet her or her mother till 1994.
Adelaide Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 Thanks Ste. I like it when they bring in other residents of the Bay that we haven't seen before, instead of outsiders moving in. It makes it a bit more realsitic. I mean, I know Summer Bay is supposed to be small and everything, but there's obviously a lot more people living there than the regular cast. Otherwise, how would the diner and the surf club ever make any money?!
ste Posted June 27, 2006 Report Posted June 27, 2006 I agree, and I wish the next time they introduce a new family they do it that way. As it will be much more interesting to meet a family who have secrets rooted in the Bay, than a new family who have secrets that we don't give a crap about (ie Jack Holden oops I killed someone).
