Sons and Daughters was one the best trashy soaps aboout crazy families and if H&A is gonna go in that direction then Fantastic. Forget trying to be a realistic look at every day life in a small seaside town! We have the EVIL grandmother who stole her beautful daughters baby and sold it. We have the beautiful daughter who was a hollywood actress who has returned home. We have the rebellious young girl who has just found out her true heritage. We have the ex Husband who has now settled down with a boring housewife..BUT...Will he have a secret affair with his beautiful Actress ex Wife? They have a son together.. BUT WHOSE SON IS HE REALLY? Is he really the progeny of his allegedly dead uncle maybe? On the other side of town we have a frumpy bar owner who is about to marry the high school PE teacher...and have a nice combined family. What she doesnt know is her daughter maybe pregnant soon to the son of her new husband!! How will the antics of these families play out? How will they affect each other? Find out on the next exciting episode of Home and Away: The Sons and Daughters years. '...love and laughter, tears and happiness....."

In fairness to Bevan, I should point out that the infamous 1986 season finale of Sons and Daughters involving snakes, sharks, bolting horses and a virgin getting laid in a seedy motel room had nothing to do with him! The 2004 Olympic cliffhanger involving Sarah's seige always reminded me of the Sons and Daughters 1983 finale involving the seige at Woombai. Both ended on an outdoor shot where we heard gunshots but didn't know who was dead and who survived. In both cases, we were shown what happened inside in the season return. Both soaps featured a rapist-turned-hero (skimming over that one quickly!) For those who remember the 'sepia soap', how many more similar storylines and events can we think of?
ste Posted June 24, 2006 Report Posted June 24, 2006 I think Bevan admitted the similarity between the sieges in H&A and S&D, but he said if something works why not recycle it? I have only seen the odd episode of Sons and Daughters here and there, so I can't really remember that many storylines. I do love it though, it's exactly like watching early years Home and Away.

I seem to remember a kind-hearted lady called Irene who looked almost identical to kind-hearted Ailsa Stewart. I also remember a level-headed woman called Barbara Armstrong Hamilton, who resembled Grace Scott and later turned into Morag Bellingham. They are 2 similarities just for starters, I know they are obious.

Not that I'm saying one is a continuation of the other or anything, that wouldn't make sense at all. I just think that when Judy, Corny, Rowena etc were all on the show together they could have dropped a little in-joke here or there.
