matticus01 Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Ok I hate the way this turned out, I dont even like it for some reason . . . but you can be the judge
Emsan Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 I think that those are cool! One thing you can try though is making the text redish if you don't like it Bec. That might help. I will try to post more tutorials soon. Maybe I should make my own tutorial thread lol. But I don't think you're allowed to do that.
Emsan Posted June 29, 2008 Report Posted June 29, 2008 Zetti wanted a tutorial for this one: so now I will try to explain how I did it. I made it with Photoshop by the way. Step 1 Take your cap and crop it like you want it. Step 2 Duplicate it (ctrl+j) and put it on Screen 100%. Marge down (ctrl+e). Step 3 Duplicate your base again (ctrl+j) and put up the brightness and the contrast of it a bit. (image>adjustments>brightness/contrast). Raise the brightness bar a slightly bit, it depends of your cap so choose your own value. Do the same with the contrast bar. I think I raised the contrast bar to max or near max. Step 4 Make a new layer and fill it with the color #06323f. Put this layer on exclusion 100%. Step 5 Make a new layer and fill it with the color #ffcc00. Put this layer on Multiply and lower the opacity to 25%. Step 6 Duplicate your base and move it to the top (ctrl+j). Lower the saturation of it (image>adjustments>hue/saturation). Lower the saturation bar, the value depends of your cap. I don't know what my value was, you will just have to play around a bit. Put this duplicated layer on Screen with an opacity of 64%. Step 7 Make a new layer and fill it with the color #061531. Put this layer on exclusion and lower the opacity to 25%. Step 8 Make a new layer and fill it with the color #761111. Put this layer on lighten 100%. Step 9 Make a new layer and then apply your image (image>apply image). Now you are going to add some lighting effects (filter>render>lighting effects). Play around a little, I made the light go over the people and then be a bit darker around them. Lower the fill of this layer to 55% (you can find fill under opacity in the layer palette). Step 10 Yey you are now done with the coloring. This is where the fun begins, textures, text and other effects. First, take this texture and paste it above all the other layers in your icon. Flip it vertical (ctrl+a>edit>transform>flip vertical). Put it on Lighten and then move it down until the upper part is not covered with it. I also erased a bit of the dark blue part. Step 11 Write out some text and add a light texture. Step 12 Take this texture and paste it above all the other layers in your icon. Put this layer on Lighten 100% Step 13 Take this texture and paste it above all the other layers in your icon. Put this layer on Screen 100%. And you are done: Feel free to ask me if you get any problems.
