Zetti Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Well, I just made my first tutorial It probably sucks though Tutorial for PhotoShop CS2: Going from this to this 1. Crop/resize your image until you're satisfied. 2. Duplicate your base and set it to hard light 100 %. 3. Create a new fill layer and fill it with #b1f0f4. Set it to soft light 100 %. 4. Create a new adjustment layer and select Photo Filter. Then select Warming Filter (85) and set the density to 29 %. 5. Then create another fill layer and fill it with #07135f. Set it to exclusion 70 %. 6. Then go back to your base and select the burn tool, and use it on face and body (or the main object of the avatar). Then duplicate your base and drag it to the top. Set it to soft light 100 %. 7. Then create yet another fill layer and fill it with #f1cd50. Set it to soft light 100 %. 8. Then create another adjustment layer and select Photo Filter. Then select Cooling Filter (80) and set the density to 37 %. And you're done! Add brushes, text or textures as you please. If there's anything that's not clear enough, then feel free to ask. Thats what I got.
valli Posted April 22, 2008 Report Posted April 22, 2008 Cool Now, I might add that the colouring doesn't work for all pictures (I assumed that you already knew that )
Jayde Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Just a general colouring tutorial, works on both bright and dark images. Made using CS3, can be done with 7+. We're making We'll start off with our base and crop it The image is a little dark, so we'll add a screen layer Then create a curves layer and enter these settings Output: 141 Input: 101 Okay, now our image is bright. You can adjust the opacity of the layers if you fancy. If you want to add contrast, which is not necesary in all cases, do so now. Add a Hue/Sat layer and type in the following settings Hue: 0 Sat: 31 Lightness: 0 Now, a new Selective Colour Layer. (Sorry, PSPers.) REDS Cyan ~ -26 Yellow ~ +37 Black ~ -5 Now, the icon looks a little contrasted, at least mine does, so if you don't like it deal with it, wait till the end to change it if it still looks as contrasted. If it does, we'll change it. Now, click on your base (The layer named Background) and make a new Photo Filter layer. Set the Filter to --> Cooling Filter (LBB) Set the density to 38%. Set this layer to screen, 50%, duplicate it and set it to Color 50%. Opacities vary from icon to icon. Hate the icon? So do I. Let's change that. Duplicate the base layer twice. Set the bottom to Soft Light 40%, and the second to Screen 30%. Create a color balance layer (make sure it's at the top of your palette) and enter the following settings: MIDTONES -35 +22 +13 Remember that Soft Light Layer we had last step? Duplicate it. All done! Add borders, text, brushes, other people - whatever to it and show off your finished result. This is mine
Cerise Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 How to achieve this sort of colouring in two easy steps, with layers and color blance. Requested by Zetti Duplicate your Base and set it to Screen, 100% Go to Layer- New Adjustment Layer- Color Balance Midtones -75 0 +58 Set this layer to Screen, 50%. Cerise Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 I had to change the settings in the Yellows, because it turned out really illuminous green, but after I did I got that.
