-Emily- Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Right, we're going from to 1. Crop your image. 2. Filter>>sharpen>>sharpen edges 3. Add this layer, set to lighten, 100 % and you get 5. And thats it, simple and easy to give a great effect!
rockstarrr08 Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Thanks real cool tut I might try that now!!.
princess_jessik Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Ahh...thank-you Nim. I'm going to try that later Emily, because like you said the effect is simple and easy yet very effective.
.Cat. Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Icon tutorial time! I'm using PS7 Okaay..We'll be going from this: to this: Okie dokie. First of all, crop your image. Mine: Copy your base, onto a new canvas (so you have a spare) Sharpen your base (not the spare!), and if it appears too sharp, fade the sharp by going to Edit>Fade sharpen, and fiddle with the opacity. 2. Duplicate your image 5 times, and set it like this: 1st duplicate (one closest to the base): Screen, 25% 2nd: Desaturate and set to Softlight at 100% 3rd: Screen, 100% 4th: Multiply, 100% 5th: Overlay, 100% Not looking too bad,eh. 3. Layer> New Fill layer> Solid color and fill with a dark blue. I used 003557, and set to Exclusion 4. Another new fill layer! Fill with a purpley-pink. I used F5AFEF, and set that to Color Burn, ar 30% 5. Another new fill layer (because we like them so much!) Fill with a sky blue. I used 99DEFF, and set to Color Burn, at 50% My icon now looks like this: 6. Duplicate your base layer, drag to top, and set to Screen, at 30% 7. Now..what about that spare? Minimize the icon your working on, and go to your spare (which should be your original base). We are going to crop it. I cropped mine to 30x50, but you can do whatever you want! Sharpen and desaturate it. Select it (Ctrl + A), and then make a new layer (remember we are doing this in the spare copy of the base!!). Edit> Stroke. Make sure the color is white, set to 3px, and "Center" is ticked. Click ok. Merge all (Ctrl + Shift + E). Copy it, and paste into your icon (remember the icon we were working on?). Place it wherever you want! And what do you know? You're done! My finished product: Sorry if this wasn't clear, and didn't work out with your icon. I only tried this once (on the Hilary image).
rockstarrr08 Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 I love that tut I just made one!!. Didn't turned out the way I wanted it but I like it!!.
