Emmadolly Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 The point of Tony is my eye candy. Even thought he has not had much of a storyline, i am sure there is one in the pipe line for him. Otherwise they will just be wasting a good character.
-Karen- Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 i like tony but i agree he should get a good storyline. i think beth and tony are great together but the writers need to explore their relationship a bit more and come up with a storyline about them rather than about their kids. due to what i have heard about upcoming storylines, this doesn't seem likely for the foreseeable future though. i can think of numerous good ideas but the last thing i want is for him to have an affair behind beths back or something like that as the poor woman had had enough of that kind of thing! (this is not a spoiler, its just my mind running wild!) Oh and by the way I agree about him being good eye candy! after jack of course!!
MarMar Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Why do people seem to be unable to look at the show beyond the "eyecandy"-layer? *Grrr* The way I see it, he doesn't have a "role" in the show, apart from being Beth's partner and the father Lucas needs in certain situations. This is not something new, and you can say that apart from some storylines (Michael's death and how it affected Pippa, Alf's tumour etc), this has been the case of every adult character. Of course, adult characters have had their storylines, but the show has 'always' focused manuly on the young and attractive.
Emmadolly Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 The reason why i mentioned eye candy, is because that is all he has at the moment on the show. Other than a few weeks ago when Lucas was going off the rails, and he stepped in. He is a good character, but they are not using him as much as they could.

I think we need a few adult characters who are only there to fill a certain role, as Merc says. This type of role is prevalent in everyday life, and should be reflected in Home and Away. I'm a little drunk at the moment, so I must add that I also appreciate the "eye-candy" layet of Tony as well. Mmmm.
dan Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 H&A always seem to struggle to give their male adult characters any purpose or storylines. I think Alf and Don only got some by being there so long. Actually I'm being a bit unfair Alf and Don are great characters and Actors! I've been logging what characters appear in every episode for over a hundred and it does seem that lately Tony is likely to appear just to fulfil his contract (i.e. x episodes a week) rather than any real need, having said that he is a good character and actor just a bit under used. What do we even know about him, it's all been Jack's back story and nothing much of Tony's. Actually whilst I think of it Barry seems quite likely just to crash someones scene in order to fulfil his contract at the mo as well (accompanying Irene somewhere or drinking at the bar in a Beth/Alf/Morag/Colleen or whoever scene).
loveangelmusicbaby Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 He is a nice guy...he makes Beth happy which she hasn't been in a while. Hopefully he will get some decent roles though, or he will disappear from our screens like Henry.
~Charlotte~ Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Even when he has got lines to say they don't sound as interesting as if other people had to say their lines. I think they should do a big storyline for him.
angelgirl Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 I like Tony, and it is good that he is here,he makes Beth happy and that is what she deserves over a long time.I am pretty sure that he will get a goo story line soon!
