Bay_Mad Posted June 15, 2006 Report Posted June 15, 2006 hmmm my theory is it was choice to leave, even tho the producer people really didnt want him to coz his character is (was!) so great and important..but they couldn't exactly introduce ANOTHER actor to play him so had to kill him off. who would hav preferred a new actor?
Chris H Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 im not sure its sad for sally shes never happy for more than 10 episodes then something terrible happens. Maybe they should have replaced him i wanted sally to be happy. Then again it may have been too much, 2 actors have already played him. Has there ever been 3 ppl playin one character? Like colleen didnt she all of a sudden just apear in h&a like 4 or 5 yrs ago i dont remeber her before that or was it a different actress playing her?
tessa305 Posted June 16, 2006 Report Posted June 16, 2006 thanks everyone! pretty much answered my question i think that theyd have had to be very careful if they had replaced him because the chemistry between actors is very important, and if it didnt remain strong then sally and flynn may have ended up separating, and i doubt that that would have gone down well with many viewers. plus i think that the final storyline worked out really well.

Rebecca Fisher/Nash was played by three people, four if you count the temporary recast whilst Belinda Emmett was ill.
claire_louise Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Also the character of Lucy Robinson in Neighbours was played by 3 or 4 different actresses. Same with Tracy Barlow in Corrie (uk). I agree with Ste. I think it's more likely that he was written out, or at least that it was a mutual decision not the renew his contract. I know he and Sally were a great couple and central to the show, but it couldn't last forever. There's only so much you can do with a couple once they're married, so eventually it will always be a case of either killing one of them off, splitting them up, or having them both leave together. Plus the character of Flynn (MDW and JM) had been around for a pretty long time. They probably thought it was time for some fresh blood.
*dW* Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 How could Kip and Joel leave on the same day? Joel was in the 06 series for like 21 episodes Kip had left way before then.
ste Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 I expect their contracts expired on the same day at the end of 2005. Joel would then have been kept on for an extra few weeks on a short term contract while the cancer storyline finished.
Ryan Posted June 17, 2006 Report Posted June 17, 2006 Sometimes the scenes can be filmed out of order as well, take Dani who only interacted with Alf, Scott and The Guv for a while, to allow her to get off early for his singing career.

Rebecca Fisher/Nash was played by three people, four if you count the temporary recast whilst Belinda Emmett was ill. The character of Pippa was also played by three people, if you count the first actress who was the original choice for the role: Carol Wilessee whose time on the show had to be recast and refilmed as she didn't realise what a large role she was taking on, and what it would do to her relationship with her children . . .
dan Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 Just a thought but could they have got Martin back to reprise his portrayal of Flynn or would that have been too confusing?
