Cerise Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I may enter; but if you ever read some of my other work you'll know my entry will be far from great
bttb-rox! Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I think you're being too hard on yourself . If you ever want any help generally for your writing PM me and I'll be more than happy to help .
Skykat Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Thats the point in these challenges Kat. I've had no entries either. I'm thinking an extention if people are still wanting to enter? What do people think? Maybe Jess and I could think up some potential prompts that might inspire people?
bttb-rox! Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 An extension might be a good way to inspire people. This is a pinned topic, so it's not like people can't see it. What kind of prompts were you thinking of, Sky?
Skykat Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I don't know, one of my favourite challenges was jess's one with the theme promts so you just had to incorporate the theme somewhere in your story. Like say for example the theme was sun, you could use it literally, like include a big description of the sun in there somewhere or figuratively like how the sun reflects the happy mood or something. Another way could be to give a phrase that must be used: 'The morning sun, radiated against their bodies, warming their skin..' etc Just ideas.. prompts that might inspire people with an idea.
bttb-rox! Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Those examples could work. I'm nearly finished on my one-shot, so if you change the rules, will I have to change parts of it or can I leave it as it is?
Skykat Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 You could leave your entry. I was just suggesting possible ways to get other people inspired..
Cerise Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 Could you possibly extend for a few more days? I'm sure I can get something together about the Smurfs in Summer Bay Or SOMETHING
sevenpuddings Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 An extension+prompts sound great Kat! How about, along with holiday: Holiday >> Summer Holiday >> Autumn Holiday >> Winter Holiday >> Spring Holiday >> Christmas Holiday >> Halloween Holiday >> Easter Holiday >> New Years Eve/Day Holiday >> School Holidays And you must center the fic around one of these themes. So for those who enjoy a less defined topic, your holiday [or holiday re-telling] must simply take place during a season. But for those who would rather a defined prompt you can center your story [or beginning of one] around an actual holiday. As for the extension - I've only got a week of holidays left, but if you want longer for people then go for it.
emmasi Posted July 20, 2007 Report Posted July 20, 2007 Oh precious extension!!! I might actually get this thing finished in a week! Whether it's under 10000 words remains to be seen, lol. Perhaps an abridged version
