-Jade- Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Yup, at midnight. (for people in the UK).
Skykat Posted October 2, 2006 Report Posted October 2, 2006 Certainly is. The entries will be posted at some point tomorrow. Can't say for definite when because I'm working away from home so it'll be whenever I get chance to get on a computer.
Skykat Posted October 3, 2006 Report Posted October 3, 2006 The competition is now closed and the entries posted. The deadline for voting is one week from the deadline of the competition so midnight 9th October (UK) and midday 10th October (Australia). Well done to everyone who entered and good luck!xxx
sevenpuddings Posted October 12, 2006 Report Posted October 12, 2006 Okay, so theres been a slight hiccup in the current challenge, and while I'm sure the Mods are fixing things, I thought we could have a kind of discussion about how to improve the challenge so things don't go arwy again. First of all, thanks to SKYKAT for making a brilliant challenge, and pushing everyone to the next level. Because it really was challenging, and I don't know if there will be a winner announced, but everyone should be proud of the challange, and SKYKAT should be proud of herself for running it so well Now, what I'm asking would be for ideas to help improve the challenge. Should we simply set a challenge and have anonymous entries up for reviews, without voting? Or would this cause problems as to who hosts the next challenge? Could we broaden the spectrum for voting? Should we have stricter rules for reviewing and voting? I don't know any more, but I'd love to hear what everyone else things. I think this is a great time to relook the overall challenge and make some changes... any one else?
-Jade- Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 Yea, maybe we should just have reviewing and no voting? That would probably fix the problem and then anyone could offer to host? Or maybe we should scrap the poll and just vote at the end of our reviews...
Skykat Posted October 13, 2006 Report Posted October 13, 2006 As far as I'm aware some of the reviews were from false accounts as well so it's difficult to tell which are genuine votes. I've reposted the poll in a new thread, the mods are going to be keeping an eye out for cheating. Can't think of any other way round it. As for future competitions I think it'll have to be non winner challenges. I don't see any other way it can work. To have it judged we'd need a mod overseeing and that's not fair to any of the mods. Frankie and Mez have been great with this and they're watching the current poll but we can't expect them to do it every time. The only reason I can think of to have a winner is to find the next hoster but we could always just have people volonteer, as Jade suggested. Maybe if we ask for a volonteer amongst the entries that were submitted for the previous challenge. I don't know what to do, I was seriously disappointed that people cheated because I don't see the point and now even with a new poll there will always be doubts as to whether people have missed out on votes because of the timing etc. Guess we just need to see what the majority think. Edit: Please can everyone help me with bumping the poll. To get the fairest possible result we need everyone who origionally voted to recast and that's easier if it stays on the first page for now. Thanks.xx

Thanks.xx Maybe you could find a MOD who wouldn't mind checking no one has voted more than once in any future fanfic polls...? They wouldn't have to check out the reviews as well. Just to clarify things, Kat, and as you and I already know (but in case anyone was getting the wrong idea) there was only ONE person who was cheating. But that was all it took to ruin everything. Like you, I'm very, very angry and disappointed. The writers of those fics put a lot of work in and it was a close run contest with some absolutely brilliant stories. It's not fair that they should lose out. So can anyone who hasn't already voted show their support?
Jacksthehottest Posted October 14, 2006 Report Posted October 14, 2006 Instead of having voters and reviwing, why not have a couple of judges like 3 or 4. And have them decided the winner. You could still ahve one that hosts the challenge and then all 4 of them could pick out a winner. But have 4 different kind of judges. Don't have all Jack/Martha fans or Luc/Maddie fans. Have all different kinds of judges. Or just people that read any kind fo fics, so that way it;s not biased. And as for everyone else being involved they could send their reviews to who ever is hosting it. This could help them decided the winner. Hope i make sense. I really enjoyed reading all the fics this time and i would love for it to all continue

Like maybe a J&M fan, L&M Fan... then some others. (As we all know J&M and L&M fans can be biased ) Then again, J&M haters can also be rather biased too. Hmm.. We'd just have to make sure that we don't have any "certain pairing haters" in the judges panel. (Judges panel - how cool does that sound?) As long as we do have good, unbiased judges, then that'd totally work! I think it's quite a good idea. Well done JackstheHottest!
