Cal Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 I was watching Home & Away today, and RTÉ have decided to put a sponser thing on it. Before it starts, it goes to a shot of a beach, where a boy and his dad are making a sand-castle. A ball comes flying through the air and recks the castle. The ball has "Wheetoes" on it. I was shocked when I first saw it because the guy who says "Home & Away, Sponsered by Wheetoes", has an Australian accent. Is it the same sponser in Australia, or am I being completly thick?

*dW* Posted June 6, 2006 Report Posted June 6, 2006 Nope Home and away dont have any sponsers at the start of the episode they usually place a picture of the sponsers logo at the corner of the screen on the next episode promos played during the day or night.

Incase you didn't "get" the advert (I didn't at first), they're meant to be shooting Home and Away but the extras in the background keep ruining it by being dressed as nuts or weetabix or whatever. Hence "Home and Away sponsered by weetabix with fun extras". Geddit? Yeah, I laughed my socks off too.

Jess Posted June 7, 2006 Report Posted June 7, 2006 Cal, there's several, and they kind of rotate 'round. There's the Weetos one with the football and there's the Weetabix 'fun extras' one. They really annoy me, but Liz, the KFC was definately the worst! What is the function of sponsors for big shows like 'Home and Away'? Do they pay for some of the importing costs or something?
