I think it's outragous and i bet they do it so they can fit more ads in too, it sucks, especially when they're cutting my guy out. It shouldn't be allowed, it should be shown as it is filmed, or not at all in my book.

I disagree.

Whilst it may be annoying that bits are cut out, those of us who are really bothered about it can download Australian episodes. Most viewers will be totally unaware of the cuts and would much rather see it as it is now than not at all.

Did anyone notice, in addition to new titles the advert for wheetos also changed? I thought that was quite funny, as I thought only UK viewers get that promo...

Yeah, those sponsorship stings are exclusive to the UK. I guess it was just coincidence that the ad changed the same day as the opening titles.

I was actually pleased that the announcer acknowledged that this was the season return, and explained the longer-than-usual recap.

Yeah I thought so...yeah its probably just a coincidence.

Yep, totally agree. I was actually quite surprised when they said that it was the new season...was pretty nice of them, especially for people who weren't aware and could have been confused as to why the recap was sooooooooo long!!!

I would actually prefer it if they had the promos, all they have to change is the voiceover, if they were allowed to.

They did that for the last season opener as well. Explained that it was the first episode to air in Australia in 2006 and that there had been a 2 month break.

Seeing as the cuts they make, are non swearing or damaging to the scene. They seem to be cutting the less important things out, to fit into the time slot. As other soaps here are not on air for the full half hour slot given to the show. I suppose what you dont know, you want really miss. I am just glad that a station wants to air it.

The thing is though, it's not like the show would take up the full 30 minute slot anyway. Each episode, uncut and without adverts is about 21 - 22 minutes long, leaving an ample 8 minutes for adverts in the middle and at the end before the next show comes on at 6:30pm

Have you read the entire thread? It has been explained several times over that the cuts were made because of danger to epileptics due to the flashing lights of thunderstorms. They cut that scene with Ric out because he was running around outside and lightning was flashing. Some of the indoor ones will have been cut because of lightning flashing in through the windows.

I agree that things shouldn't be cut for no reason or if it was to fit more adverts in, but it's pretty clear that in these two episodes the cuts are being made because of the lightning.

Surely that's the nanny state gone mad?? I've watched programmes where there's been lightening and flashing, they just have to warn you at the start.
