Izzy H Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 I don't think five would want to show the Aussie end credits with the promos - as it would mean they would not be able to talk over them and advertise their next programme. Sounds to me like Five like the sound of their own voices.

Sounds to me like Five like the sound of their own voices. What TV stations don't? LOL. I really dislike the split credits/voiceover thing. I think they should resort to the old days of promo, then proper official end credits without any voiceover or interruption.
ste Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Five were the first main UK channel to do it, then all the rest followed. Five were also the first channel (in the world?) to break the tradition of news programmes being a boring person behind a desk in a dull studio.
James Martin Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Indeed. I loved the original Five news in the late 90s.
ste Posted May 16, 2006 Report Posted May 16, 2006 Me too, with all the bright colours. Then all the other stations copied it and Five changed to a white studio
Si-Co Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 Just stumbled on this in the archives and it reminded me of something I meant to mention. I've noticed that recently on Five/Five Life we occasionally get to see the final frame of the closing credits showing the official yahoo7 website URL, but most of the time the familiar grey caption by Five is shown instead. I think this is since Five Life came along. I wonder if there are new staff editing the show for UK transmission now, who are are a little less vigilant about covering up that yahoo7 caption? I see we also get fades-to-black before and after the ad-break captions as well, whereas before they always cross-faded from the show to the caption, and vice-versa.
Ross Posted February 11, 2007 Report Posted February 11, 2007 I prefer the 'fade to black' thing they do now because the way it was before, you'd sometimes hear a split second of sound before picture and sometimes it would fade to the bumper without the scene finishing completely. Not sure if this makes sense the way I have worded it, but I'm sure you all get what I mean!
