Why exactly are we supposed to suddenly care for Emily? I mean she seems nice and all, but they're trying to compare the storyline with Sally and Flynn, which is just ridiculous in my eyes. I don't like the way Brad is treating Sally, and ... well ... if i'm honest i don't like Brad. No emotion, and he's just so odd looking .. face, body ... it's just weird, sort of plastic-y. (Note: not saying he's ugly, just weird looking!)

Well why can't we care for her? I know she's a character of convenience and I can see exactly where the writers are going with the whole storyline, but a few people seem to be incredulous at the thought that they're expected to evoke some sympathy or feelings of sadness for Emily. I look at her and I see a young woman who should be entering the happiest time of her life, who's just got married to the man of her dreams but knows it's going to end way, way before it should. And although I won't be as emotionally affected by it as I was with Flynn's death, I still think it's really tragic.

I see your point regarding the Sally and Flynn comparison, however, which is why I'd have preferred it if Sally hadn't been caught up in the situation. But in saying that, without Sally's involvement, there'd be no need for such a storyline.

ETA - Clare I hope that didn't sound cheeky, I wasn't really referring to you as being incredulous, it's just a reaction I've come across a few times with regard to Emily.

I completely agree. I don't get why two new characters are getting such a full on storyline. I mean when it happened to Sally/Flynn I really felt it, but with these two it's just like, so what? (I know I sound heartless)

Where the heck is Alf?

It's pretty obvious that they're doing the Brad/Emily storyline as a build up to Brad and Sally getting together. Personally I quite like the idea. It's a bit convenient, finding Sally a new partner who has lost their spouse in exactly the same way as her, but it's much better to build things up slowly than for her to rush into a new relationship (look how fans reacted when Hayley did exactly that). This way, we get two decent storylines rather than one rubbish one.

I think it is quite obvious Brad and Sally will get together, and I also like the idea. Brad seems like a really nice guy, is quite gorgeous, and I love the dynamic of him and Rachel. I also like the Leah/Rach/Sally friendship which is growing quite nicely.

But: I think the cancer storyline is awful. Not because I don't feel for Brad and Emily, because I really do. I like them both. I just think that the storyline is a little insulting - I can imagine it now, Brad and Sally bonding over shared grief for their dead spouses, he finds comfort in Sally. Ugh. Also, I think he will probably be rushed into a relatiionship, although Sally won't, which is almost as bad and wouldn't do either him or Emily justice. Could they not think of another way to get Sally and Brad together slowly? I think the Brad/Emily storyline is a bit icky.

I also didn't like the Vanessa stuff. What is the point of her? And I'm getting a feeling about that boy as well... I really don't want him and Mattie to get together. I agree with Claire, they should have made this storyline Mattie-centric, it would have been a good chance to show off Indianna's acting, which has been amazing recently. Enough of the "non-characters" now (brilliant description btw :D ), boring and useless. There have been enough distractions in the Mattie/Luc fiasco, just stop!

That Vanessa girl was wierd telling Matilda and Dean to scream i knew there was somthing odd about her and then i was shocked to see she smacks her in the process , i really want Maddie to get out of their soon because the place seems really wierd even though shes is there to get help.

Poor Brad i know he had no right to shout at Sal but he is not coping at all and i think Emily having that chat with Sal was helpful because Sally can help this two get through this situation and i really feel for Brad and Sally and i cant wait for Sally and Brad to get together because there is chemistry flowing between the pair.

That place is actually quite realistic. I find the Matilda/Dean storyline quite good and I found the therapist to be a bitch though. The way she treated the girl was horrible and I don't blame her for smacking her on the face.

Loved the screaming scene. Looked like the actors actually had fun filming that.

Oh and I want Dean to stay!!!!

What happened at the retreat with Vanessa, did they imply that she'd - you know what (I'm unsure if that word is approriate for this forum)?

Hopefully the actress who played Emily will get better roles as her acting was great!

I'm a bit unsure with Brad, it's like the writers are trying to force us to accept and like him, I'm sure he's a nice chap but it looked like the writers was ramming it home.
