Skydreamer Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I really like that scene when Sophie tells Sally she will be the surrogate, Sally is so emotional: 'Flyyyyn...We're gonna have a baby!!!' I love it. And then they all hug at the end - aww. Cue happy/emotional music. I think the next few months of the show were fantastic...you're in for some brilliant storylines and acting. I have that bit on video still, I love it so much! (Although am kicking myself that I didn't also record the bit when Sally first reveals about having some of her eggs frozen and Flynn says he'd love to have a baby with her - that was really sweet.) I wasn't fussed with 2003 all that much - but that's just my personal bias as after a year and a half of Martin Dingle-Wall anything without did seem somewhat sub-standard! For crying out loud Irene, Joel McIlroy is not Martin Dingle-Wall with a haircut!!!
alexx Posted January 20, 2007 Report Posted January 20, 2007 I loved the first half of 2003, the rest IMO was really boring and crap - Once Fisher and Angie were gone. I did like all of the Sally/Flynn storylines of that year, though I always do.
BelieveInMe Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I feel so sorry for Leah. Okay. I took my time and watched 2002 finale. I'm really amazed. There was so much good acting. Michael Beckley and Paula Forrest surprised me.
alexx Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I think the Sutherland break-up was fantastic, I loved it all – the acting was superb! Was that when Rhys says 'Can you look at me and tell me you don’t love me?' and Shelly replies 'No. But I'll get over it...'. That scene is one of my favourites, how emotionally charged is it!!
Ryan Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I know I oft criticise Coral, but I'm going to praise her and say that she began to run out of ideas around the time that Sally and Flynn got married. It appeared that she had great initial ideas (like one of those great season one shows, but then they drop off and last three seasons), but once they were finished the ones she came up with were too far fetched or tedious.
Eerik Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 OMG! This 2003 season premiere was so weird. Started with "previously in Summer Bay" and then just "4 weeks later". Why the heck they skipped four weeks? Although it was a great episode.
Tamxxx Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 they skipped 4 weeks because it was supposed to be a holiday in summer bay
Ryan Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 I thought, whereas 2004-2005 worked, 2002 to 2003 didn't. First of all you left on a few cliffhangers. First of all you had the Sutherland family break-up. We didn't get to see the reaction of the family coming to terms with this, we move a month down the track and they've came to terms with it. We had Vinnie's death. The most rewarding scenes are usually in the weeks after that with people coming to the terms with the loss. Again this was missed. Then we had the situation with Alf/Ailsa which really ended up making no sense at all. Why would Alf keep the fact that his wife has come back a secret? Why wasn't Don worried that Alf didn't contact him in a month?
Drew Posted January 22, 2007 Report Posted January 22, 2007 That was weird when they skipped four weeks. I remember Leah's first scene she seemed alright and she felt totally over Vinnie's death, just after four weeks! That cliffhanger just seemed like they through it in there for the heck of it. 2003... Such a great year!
