Nicom Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 The most recent, was an edit on the 19th April of only 3 seconds to remove offensive language. Wow. I thought the language that is used on home & away is tame compared to some American soaps. I remember the bad word that came out of Robbie's mouth once! Lol. When he was on the stairs talking about Jesse getting shot. I was shocked! =O! lol But i also laughed because i wasn't expecting it from Home & Away.
Andy Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 See, I never noticed the edit on the 19th of April. Did anyone else notice it? What offensive language did they edit out? I can't say I've ever noticed any language I thought was offensive on H&a ?
Stuart2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 If only five would get the episodes and just put them on and put editing out the window.Editing Thats what i'd do to editing<
ste Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 So you'd edit "editing." What a hypocrite Hehe. Anyway, it's not really up to Five, ALL programmes are watched by sensors before going to air and they cut out anything they think its not suitable. Of course, as 99.9% of viewers know, they are extremely flakey and stupid, and they will cut something out of one episode, and yet leave it in another. But anyway that's a different rant. The fact is, it's not Five's fault. And even if it was, it's not like they edit every episode. Five have done the tiniest most minimal amount of editing humanly possible since they took the show in 2000. ITV used to edit every single episode.
James Martin Posted May 1, 2006 Report Posted May 1, 2006 The inconsistency is baffling. It was OK for Robbie to say he "pissed his pants" but for Ric to call Duncan a "tosser" in the 4000th wasn't?
ste Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 I know, the inconsistency is stupid but it's not exclusive to Home and Away. Pretty much all shows are edited now and again in a similarly non-sensical way. It makes the censors feel important that they have to cut something now and again.
tessa305 Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 i can understand that editing is often inevitable for day time/early evening programmes and im fine with it so long as we dont miss out on crucial moments of storylines, but i do agree that five are a bit inconsistent. I think that maybe they also cut parts of the programme out if the programme over runs. For example, a few years ago when henry was tapdancing, they cut some of his dancing out and also (i think, although i may have just missed it) a few days ago when flynn finished work and was talking to the old lady, they cut some of their conversation out too (she commented on him marrying sally). i know these edited parts are not important but it shows that they may cut other scenes down too if the programme's a few seconds too long.
ste Posted May 2, 2006 Report Posted May 2, 2006 She did comment on him marrying Sally, you must have just missed it
Jamey-Maria Posted May 3, 2006 Report Posted May 3, 2006 The reason the drugs were edited out in the Duncan/Jade scenes was two fold, firstly the drugs are illegal in the UK whereas they are apparently legal in Oz (legal drugs? whens the next plane over? ;-) secondly it apparently showed precisely how to use the drug which is also not allowed in the UK (to avoid copycats). Drugs arn't legal in Australia! Um, we do have a thing called "THE LAW" over here.
