Ray Meagher

Today I was watching a repeat episode of A Country Practice and I was shocked to see Ray Meagher (who plays Alf on H&A) on it.

He was on the episode Fighting Back Part 1 & 2.

Was it a very old episode? If it was from within the last ten years or so it would be a surprise because you'd think he'd have a sort of loyalty/exclusivity clause in his contract to tie him to H&a.

ACP was on from 1982-1993 so its more likely this was before he was in Home and Away.

If you check the IMDB website it actually tells us that Ray had two separate roles in ACP. It's most likely these were from in the earlier part of the show's run, therefore not coinciding with his time on Home and Away.

He also had three different roles in Prisoner, and all were playing baddies!

Ray has also had some roles in movies. There was a TV movie "Secret Seven and the Haunted Mansion" based on Enid Blyton's books that I remember watching at school that he had a role in.

And I'm sure there would be others, and other television programmes as well ...

I loved all his roles in PCBH. He terrorised Meg in the early eps when he held her hostage, I think with a broken bottle. Then he played a pimp, I think to a prisoner who had escaped to the city. Then he played the prison govenor in the male prison (can't remember the name of the prison,) who made even the Freak look weak (who of course played his ex-lover in H&A!) Fair play to anyone who can achieve making her character in PCBH look weak!! The man is a legend!!
