Home and Away or Neighbours?

I used to watch Neighbours every day, but I went off it. I got sick of it and all the characters in it. I think the last time I saw it was when Serena's friend from school (the lesbian one) was infatuated with Sky. I never managed to get used to Sky once she dyed her hair blonde and started wearing trendy clothes! I thought it was a bit of a cop-out; soaps never have long term characters who are a bit different, if they stay long enough they lose all of their individuality.

I've never got bored of Home & Away though, I find the characters far more appealing than in Neighbours.

I think that the two are very different and difficult to compare. I like them both, however would rather miss a neighbours episode than a H&A one. H&A is more like other soaps shown in the uk, eheras neighbours is more of a day time show, not a soap) in fact ot is labelled this in the baftas i think.

I think that the reason H&A hasnt hit it off in the uk quite like t has in aus is because of the channel. I have nothing against five, but i can rember a time, a few years ago, when hardly anyone used to watch it. That could have been because lots of people still had terrestrial tv and, unless you live in a city, five is hard to get without digital/satelite/freeview.

they're just my thoughts. i dont think that they are aimed at different age groups though as everyone i know who watches H&A also watches neighbours (but not the other way around).

Before we had Sky, it was hard to get a good picture on Five, I remember watching H&A on a fuzzy screen with really bad reception. I live in the center of Newcastle too, so it's not just the smaller towns and rural areas that have problems with Five.

Home & Away beats Neighbours by far. I think ppl in the UK seem to "prefer" Neighbours cos of the channel it's on. If H&A was still in ITV and would get way more viewers. But Five is improving by what they're putting on it, like H&A, Prison Break, House, Greys Anatomy and Movies.

I have to agree, because the gfunk site has been down i haven't managed to see neighbours for a week but then saying i don't think i missed much. Whereas if you miss a week of Home & Away you miss alot.

I haven't watched Neighbours in ages either, but I think if I were to sit down and watch it I would probably be able to pick up what's going on pretty quickly. But i just find it really boring! And the older characters in Neighbours are nowhere near as likable as those on home and away. Harold and Lou should be written out, they do my head in!

I agree with you, I love Colleen, Alf and Irene

neighbours is just awful, ive watched both H&A and neighbours all my life, but now i barely even c neighbours once a month, i just cant b bothered with it, the storylines r poor and there is an anti climax 2 everything, dat plane crash was soo stupid h&a do it so much better, what has been said b4 is tru, neighbours is only more popular here in the UK bcos it is on a much more mainstream channel, gets much more promotion and wasnt taken off the air for a year

I know what you mean, last christmas or the one before (I'm not sure) I missed about two weeks of both shows... Neighbours had not changed at all whereas on Home and Away I missed the arrival of the rest of the Hunter clan (Rob and the gruesome twosome as they were then called), this really confused me and to this day I have no idea how they arrived, why, the reactions of the Sutherlands...nothing and as you can tell this has deeply affected me! (I'd be very grateful if someone could tell me!)

Neighbours, lets face it... even though I watch it religiously (force of habit) it's just one of those programs that you can quite hap

pily go off to the toilet during and not care! I missed neighbours today actually and...so what?!
