Im in the UK and i prefer home and away.

I missed a episode of neighbours last week and i didnt really care.

But i have to make sure that i never miss h&a (maybe alittle sad) :P

Now over here they only repeat it at 12:00pm the next day which i always miss anyway i have to make sure i watch it at 6:00pm

I watch Five alot and not ITV that much,i prefer to watch it on Five at 6pm after neighbours

In this case the best comes last.

Maybe Neighbours is more popular over here because it is a depressing suburban soap.

(Which in case you haven't noticed, the UK is rather fond of).

Home and away is alright sometimes things tend to drag to long

Neighbours will improve alot more this year Ten have told producers to build up the storylines a bit more as they didnt like 2005 one bit at all.

Home and Away of course, I love it so much and is the only soap I watch on Tv, and neighbours sometimes but is never as good as Home and Away, its just a shame that, Home and Away doesnt get the recognition, it deserves, this poll is biased in a way because since its a Home and Away Forum, most people would vote for Home and Away anyway. :P.

Home and Away by far, Although I do like Neighbours. I find the problem with Neighbours, is they drag their storylines out way too long. No one ever seems to be happy. With Home and away there a few relationships that last, at least 2-3 years, but Neighbours something always happens to rock the boat, yes its a soap and thats what generally happens in soaps , but it just tends to be doom and gloom all the time in Neighbours, I do watch every epp, I think it has become a habit, mainly hoping something good will happen, but its a soap that I can store on my hard drive of my sky box untill I have nothing to do where as Home and away I cant wait for 6pm to come around.

With regards to the storylines being stolen, I think most soaps are guilty of that, neighbours copied the stalker storyline, (which might I add was not as good as HaA) and HaA copied the whole hayley choosing the babies life over hers and not having surgery. Those are just two I can name, although Neighbours copied its own story line on that same subject with steph and the Cancer and Libby and her heart condition I recall.

I think Neighbours has the bigger following in the UK, one main reason is because it stopped for a year. I think that it lost a hell of a lot of its supporters when it had the transition from ITV over to five. I know quite a lot of people that used to watch it and then forgot all about it when it came back after the year (which may I add was the longest year of my life) Only the genuine followers picked it back up.Neighbours started in 1985 which gave it three years on HaA, and I think Neighbours have kept a lot of their followers from way back then. I know I started Neighbours from the beginning which is maybe why I still watch it, but I also started to watch Home and away in 1988 but I remember back then there wasnt much advertising on it, BBC1 tend to advertise alot more than ITV did back in the eighties. Thats my opinion anyways.
